Tree ended up being a female Weight or similar trapped in tree form. You can get to know her after you free her. The joke was, that when you first visit the forest, this "tree" stuck out because it had some interesting curves and would "leak" if you touched it. I'd be surprised if anyone was actually turned on by trees, but I've seen some 'interesting things on this site.
