Let's not call it working. It's stagnating...unfortunately, they keep redoing assets and concept over and over again, for years now.
If they just went through with the flash beta version (back in 2010?) or the later project, it could be a great success...if they would actually finish it that is. The current version is the least optimal one and not much has changed in terms of content soo...so see you in the next decade with HTH 3: VR?
Crow should just sell the High Tail Hall trademark to MySimGames and stick to being a lead artist.
Say what you want about Furry Beach Club, but the voice acting and writing of FBC with the character design and art direction of HTH would be a match made in heaven.
The real problem is that Crow hasn't had the capabilities to meet what goals he sets in several years. His projects are far too ambitious to do basically by himself, and he either doesn't have the resources or the understanding of how to accomplish his goals in order to remedy that. So he keeps trying, over and over again, hoping that new reworks and new technology will bear fruit for what he wants to do without fixing the core issue, which is that it's logistically out of his reach. He can refine the setting lore and use his practice doing art all he wants to make scene after scene, but if he can't actually make steady progress on content with an end goal, and with a timeline in mind for getting it all done, he will never finish.

I actually had that idea more than once, with quite a few flash games. Most of the time though, I was lost without source files, with reverse engineering being too unstable and messy experience, on top of actual modifications to the art...but with StableDiffusion being a thing now with more than decent results, I can see some light in the tunnel
