Yeah, I understand, it's just that not long ago there was a whole panic over some games having malware in them on F95, and something like that can be pretty unnerving. There should be alternative ways to work around cheating if it's not something you'd like in your games. It's not that difficult to make cheating itself challenging - but the whole plugin is ultimately defeated by the fact that I can just run the game sandboxed. Now, I haven't tried using Cheat Engine on it, but as I had it installed I ran it and CE wasn't closed. Not sure how difficult it would be to use CE to cheat through the game, but I know some games are good at concealing the memories so that the values are harder to get to.
That's understandable. Honestly, I think I ought to not bother with anti-cheats of any kind. I myself have cheated in games (lots of RPGM stuff) so don't really have a leg to stand on regarding that. Plus I wouldn't want to hide away work from people who want to see it but don't have the time or energy to play through the full game properly. Regardless, I hope you and everyone else can still enjoy it.
To be honest, you shouldn't beat yourself too much about it. Wouldn't be the first H-game that had anticheat. I remember back when I was playing Crimson Keep - a flash game. And in one of the games, I think the 4th part, had added in an anti-cheat feature that would completely reset your character to 0. So if you cheated in the previous games - and then tried to import that save to continue in the next game, if the anti-cheat deemed it to go over whatever treshold it set, it would completely 0 out your game.That's understandable. If you want to people do not using cheats in your game, just make it interesting and not boring af. Its simple, you dont need anti-cheat what behave like a virus. Or just make button "gimmedapussy" to unlock free mode.
Yeah, I'm also hoping. Not having job security is not great, but I can honestly say I'm happier making what I want to make over what some executive thinks the market wants. I'm a huge fan of horror and am always clamoring for games with that "Scarousal" quality.
That sounds stupid af, its a single player game let people cheat as much as thay want ! they are not hurting anyone and may even find the game more enjoyable/playable with cheats. I edited stuff in XCOM 2 to my preference and man I cannot imagine playing it any other way than with these "cheats" hell I've clocked more than 250h in it and maybe 5h of it was without the edits so ye fuck the Avatar Project and soldiers spending weeks in hospital beds while aliens mind fuck everyone (tho mods contributed to those 250h+ a TON they could be counted as "cheats" too as some classes I have are OP af and I love it)
I've had someone report a similar problem, your best bet is to remove the Settings.ini file from %LocalAppData%\HallsOfPaleWidow\Saved\Config\Windows
Yeah this seems like a privacy violation if its scanning my PC for the word "cheat" there needs to be terms and conditions on launch otherwise this could genuinely being illegal. This is straight up malware tier behaviour.
Yeah. It's frustrating to see but I can't blame anyone for being wary. I've already removed it on my end, but am making a few more changes before I get an update in. Honestly, I didn't want to make a day-one update for this as I wanted to just relax for a bit but the anti-cheat thing is a pretty big deal. I just hope people can understand that there was no harm intended.
