There are a few main issues with this game and two specific problems popping up in this forum. Ill address the latter first.
It has been argued that arguing/bitching/complaining here is useless, because 'everyone knows that no one here supports the game'. Its statistically improbably that the above is inaccurate. True, the majority of people who come here to complain about the game's content [or rather, the startling lack of it] are playing the game for free. However, I am willing to bet a sizable amount that many of these people are either former supporters who are feeling burned by having supported a game that is progressing at a much slower rate than they are used to, or eager to become supporters, if only they had any evidence to support that their support would be rewarded with content they are consistently asking for.
The second fallacy made here is that Caizer isn't aware of the negative feedback; he'd be a complete moron to not at least have someone update him with regards to the venues where the game is discussed. Most game devs do not live in a vacuum - they are fully aware of how their game is being seen outside of the Yes Men that his supporters represent and rubberstamp all of his content. So, while he may not reply to any of the posts here [and considering the heat of some of the comments, he's smart to stay hidden/under a pseudonym].
The third fallacy is the argument that the 1300+ subscribers he has [or had, until he was kicked from the Patreon platform] at $2usd/month means the fellow is earning around $5,200k usd per month, or $62,400/year.
And that's just the first tier. He has tiers ranging up to $40 usd a month. This means he is potentially earning somewhere between $62,400 - $1.25 million per year.
It is true that the lower end of that is about average for a lot of 9-5 jobs out there, but I think its a fair assessment that a lot of the work that Caizer does with the game would maybe take a weekend of posing and rendering [bc the writing is inconsistent and rife with grammatical errors that never get corrected, suggesting that proofreading isn't that high a priority]. Since he ostensibly updates once per month, that means he works at most 20 hours for a monthly check of at least $5,200 per month.
HS is indeed a cash cow, and I wouldn't begrudge him his earnings, if he did the work to earn it. Everything he puts into the game, from the dialog to the clunky mechanics of the game [no rollback, no scene gallery, no 'quest' log to know when all content had been found] suggests that maintenance - and not creating extensive content - is his goal.
It can easily be surmised that - at best - Caizer is growing as bored with this game as he did with his previous, abandoned game [MLS]. I submit that he is likely offering the least amount of effort is being expended to continue providing content to keep the cows fed just enough to keep giving milk. At worst, he is simply milking people because those people let him. Why do more work when there are more than enough people willing to pay for less?
The moment more people start tumbling to this will be the moment that Caizer dumps this game and starts another one - as he did with MLS.
And most of you won't see it coming until your payment clears before the game is simply shuttered.
