This game has been in development for three years and has a version of 0.0.64. It makes seven gran per mont. The amout of content in this game are pretty relevant to the version number. So what we can wait? (1 / 0.064) * 3 (years) = 15.625 * 3 = 46.875 years to the final release. And 46.875 * 12 (months) * 7 000$ = 3 937 500 $ of estimated investition.
Plenty of people have died from working and people also expect to get paid for working.
Personally I wouldn't mind an even bigger of a waiting time if it meant the scenarios would be properly illustrated/animated, there's a lot of interesting things happening that are begging for art and that is a disservice to the game itself. So when people wait for updates and then the update is just text on top of text, people are going to be disappointed, and the devs aren't probably thrilled about it either.
Hardcoded started off really strong before the dev got in the habit of including scenes without any art and then claiming they were going to update it later.
