That issue happens when you spend too much time focusing on the events of a single, or only a few characters in the game.
You really need to try to spend equal time with all of the girls.
That way, events play out in order.

You're right. I just got to the very end of Autumn's content because she's a favorite and I was so interested to see where its headed, but I haven't even been able to buy all of the elves yet and move that part of the main story along. It feels like I made money a lot more slowly this time around than the last time I made it this far into the game.

I just hit some major story milestones for Kali, Maria and Android, so I'm keep them all up to date around together. Need to get the others to the same level.

Ya a “completed” tag is not the best indicator of quantity/quality of content … when choosing what games to dl & play from here.

The nature of how the developers of h-games make a living doesn’t lend itself towards striving towards “completion”... you want to look for a project with regular significant updates, a good amount of developed quality content, & if those criteria are met typically the project will be rated well. The individual game thread will often have posts that touch on the developers reliably & quality of content.

HH has lots of content & the developer is very consistent with updates and bug patches. The developers schedule feels slow but it ISN’T because every update has CONTENT …they have NOT ever put out an “update” with little to no substance in an effort to milk their customers.

However if you are ocd about a story being FINISHED I can understand that as well.

That being said … I have seen MANY COMPLETED projects that don’t have 1/4 of the total content that the un-complete HH has.

Yet, that "completed" prefix - it is no tag, yet beside the technical view point that changes nothing - does only state that the a dev see his game as complete, Nothing more and nothing less.
This can mean, that the good story, pace, atmosphere and so on of a game can be ruined with the latest update of a game, that gives the game the completed prefix, simple because the dev wanted to have a closer to his project and move on.
So, I agree with Strike-10 and the complete prefix isn't a good indicator, as well as game size, game version numbers, .... are neither.

The game being posted here in its incomplete state allows people to try the game out, or play as it's chapters are released.
That helps the dev because people can report bugs, before the final full game is released.
The game is extremely story driven, as it is more of a visual novel than a game.
There have been multiple complaints from people in the past, who were looking for games where all that they need to do is fuck.
And the story content made them angry, because they had to click through all of the story to get to the sex.
Harem Hotel is not a click and fuck game, it is a story of revolution, with sexual elements.

There is no way for anyone to say when the game will be complete, and it is doubtful that Runey the dev can even give anything more than the vaguest of estimates.
Because Runey is not creating this game for a living as a full time job, Runey has a real job, and works on Harem Hotel as a hobby.
The game literally has too many developing story components that are still being worked on, and the occasional bug that pops up and needs to be fixed, for any estimates other than maybe some time in the next year, or two, or maybe, depending on Runey's free time, three...

I don't completely disagree with the points that you're making, but some of us very much do play these games to jerk off, lol. For me, the sex scenes of any game are the core. The story, and the relationships between the characters, make it more interesting, give it more depth, and can make the why and when of those sex scenes hotter. Its like reading a hot erotic story, but with interactive control over the pacing and hot visuals.

Personally, whether a game is completed or not ever is mostly irrevelant to me. If its good, I'm always going to want more content, and I'm always going to want the dev to work on improving the UI and the other technical aspects.

I certainly prefer both, but I need the sexy stuff to have an interest. I've tried a few on here that are really well made and really well written...but the sex scenes are few and far between, and that's just not what I'm here for. I love the setup of HH, because other than being in the middle of a long story episode, I can just hook up with one of the girls any time that I feel like it, and bounce between that and the "talks" as much as I want. Its ideal, and the leveling up aspect is wonderful on top of that. Gives it a feeling of accomplishment, rather than something that's just passive.

There aren't a lot, completed or in progress, that check the majority of my boxes either. But still, give me a sandbox or semi-sandbox like HH, control over the action, updating character cards, and the feeling of progression in both the story and with the sex partners, and I'm a happy man, so long as I find the characters attractive.

I used to work in the industry, so sex itself is a bit boring to me, so no matter how attractive (or not) someone is to me, I need more than just sex (though I still grind my way through most of those stats anyway, trying to get most of them to 50+, due to the way the old progression system worked), and this one appeals to a number of things I like. lol

Too many games with exhibitionism devolve into NTR-fests, rape simulators, or some other swarm of dicks, or whatever. lol Not sure why it is so hard to find nice, wholesome exhibitionism...

I'm not 100% sure, but if you can get the v16.rpa file from someone, you should be able to just download the 17.2 patch.
The other files from the v16.2 update were replaced by the v17.2 anyway

In one of Runey's dev diary updates he wanted to add an objective list to encourage players to advance all the main characters.

Objectives:

Objectives are sort of like quests except you only have one at a time and it is meant to guide you so you never get lost or confused, and encourage the player to advance all main characters.

An example of Objective #1 would be:
[X] Lin's level to 5
[X] Gain $100
[X] Fully Explore the hotel
[X] Travel to Caliber City

An example of Objective #2 would be:
[X] Get Kali's level to 10
[X] Gain $500
[X] Visit The Slums

Other examples of Objects could be:
[X] Build the Bar
[X] Build the Sanctuary
[X] Build the Second Floor
[X] Complete a Holiday Event
[X] Complete a Birthday Event

Hopefully this can be done in a way that makes the overall story follow a continuum so that the story makes sense. I had run-in with this problem as well with Android during her existential phase, then suddenly being perfectly normal when advancing other characters.

Yeah, I'm absolutely not into rape, humiliation, degredation, or anything with BDSM at all. Even HH goes too far in some of those directions for me, and I just speed past it.

Ideally, I love a setup where you play as a MC who gradually seduces/persuades/corrupts a group of women to wear less and less/more revealing outfits in public, and to behave in lewder and lewder ways, first just the two of you, then gradually and progressively moreso around others. But always with the mindset that its awesome and they're full of confidence, not because they're forced into it. I'm also a big fan of MMFF+ consensual sharing and group sex, but that's something we know is really hard to find.

As a developer it’s definitely a good idea to play other X titles because some developers use the same tools in new and interesting ways.

y’all have a hammer, screwdriver, saw, & brush but I’ve seen some developers demonstrate new and interesting ways of utilizing them.

I had a chat with runny once and tried to get him to take a look at SLOG because there was some interesting functionality there.

Surprisingly they responded that they NEVER play other offerings in this space which I found slightly odd.

Granted the functionality I was asking about is most likely impossible in renply & iirc SLOG is flash… so it might have been a blowoff. Still I was surprised by the “never” … answer.

I imagine some of it is time, but also could be the same reason 'Weird Al' never reads submissions, doesn't want anyone to accuse him of stealing their ideas. Hard to say. I know that since I became a dev, my free time, and therefor the number of games I am able to play for fun (and not for work), has plummeted.
