I'm not the person who made the walkthough. Anybody and everybody is free to make any mod for Harem Hotel, and sell it if they'd like.
I really like your game.. It has story, nice gfx, not too much grindy - well it opens new scenes with it. Its quite easy to do everything you wanted. Esp like special events, that makes it stand out. Walk-trough mod? No offense, to anyone, but you have to be blind and stupid to need it. XD..JUST READ TEXT, or is it too hard for some? And as i said , it messes up info screen.. So , again, free version is crap, rest is commercial to "come and buy it on patreon"- and that kind of FREE advertising i hate utterly. HEs using this community for advertising his paysite. I never allowed that when i was admin of old Sirius cluster WAY before internet was soooo simple as today. :)

So trust me ill go as ton of bricks on all posts published in free and sharing community - which leads to paysites, esp fcken "pat-re-censors",or which are used for personal gain and are NOT her to help developers/authors. They are only ones who should benefit from their work.
PS , if id be writing the code, on each micro update id put something "nice" in to make it impossible other mods to work. Just a little line of code. Quite simple.

That is the modders thread and all the features but hints for two girls hidden behind Patreon paywall...
Like I said a friendly patron did say they would share it (although I haven't looked since making that post back in December), the full mod is also released free by the modded themselves eventually. You are of course free to use, or not use whatever you want though.

Looks like the latest version of the mod (as it isn't updated for beta releases) was in that thread.

He's making pretty high quality mods for all sorts of games. You're getting like a dozen high quality mods for $5.

Look, I'm not here to advertise, I haven't even tested the mod. But I really don't care if he makes the game shitty, or makes the game amazing. Mods don't reflect the original game, thus their name. He's free to charge for it, and if people are buying it, it's obviously the right thing to do.

This is a free market, we aren't communist China here. He's totally in his rights to sell modded versions of games given he has the permission to do so, which he does.

Should mods be free? That's up for you to decide. If paid mods are working, then people have decided the mod is worth paying for, and according to his Patreon page, his mods are worth paying for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would never make mods broken each update, that's crazy. Modders tend to improve games, or make them different in a better way. Skyrim wouldn't be as amazing without mods. Minecraft probably wouldn't ever exist without mods. I'm also not going to require him to pay me royalties for making money off my game. We all lean on someone's shoulder to make money, and he's no different.

Is behind Patreon paywall. All features but the first two girls hints locked. Sorry but paying some leach to profit of work of others not something I ever going to do. Now if he was going to just ask for donations and make mods readily available that would be very different story. Kind of ridiculous that patreon dictates content to developers while actually allowing hackers to profit of other members freely.

In what fucking universe is he benefitting from someone else's work? Did he pull the mod out of his arse one evening? He's not taking any content away from you or preventing you from playing the game or even making your own mod. He's adding content, things that he's worked on, if you don't want to pay for it then fine but why should he not ask for money for something he's put effort into. If it's that big a deal to you make your own mod instead of bitching about not getting free stuff.

-Make several high quality mods
-People not intelligent enough to play a game with 0 difficulty attatched to gameplay/unlocking story
-People demand that you work for free
-You die of malnourishment due to not being able to afford bread.

If you guys don't mind can I have all the money you made from your jobs? I mean you did work but it's not like you really EARNED that money right? you just put time and effort in. who cares gimme gimme

But do we really need mods? It is pretty straightforward game anyway and not that time consuming like RPG-maker games.
Not to mention you always can unpack .rpa archive with images and look through it.

If anybody needs mods is up to themself. I personally hate payed mods since the shit started with skyrim back then, but I honestly understand why some people want to have money for their mods. It's a shitload of work, almost comparable with making a game itself and if you start making lots of mods, its nothing but work, no fun, just work.

I wouldn‘t want to pay for any mod, too. It just feels so forced and that‘s a turn off for me. Seeing a donation button I am much more inclined to throw some money towards the mod creator. Especially if it‘s something essential that should have been in the game in the first place. Skyrim is a great example with all the patches and UI upgrades and so on.
Though I find it hilarious how some people argue about the walkthrough mod for this game. It is simply not needed. Not trying to belittle Lains work on this. The gameplay is simply so straightforward. In other games I look straight for a walkthrough, but here you can‘t really miss any scene. Now when I look at some other work of Lain, for example the Ecchi Sensei mod. If I would use it I would gladly donate something, because that‘s some great work.

But this is just my opinion. If someone decides that they need a walkthrough for Harem Hotel and they don‘t want to pay for it, then they need to invest some time and make a walkthrough themselves. Or simply play the game without looking for a quick fap.

I think complaints against monetization of mods are misguided and stem from addiction to a hypercapitalistic view of the economic system that favours capital and intellectual property over labour.
Of course intellectual property is important and no one shall sell the work of others for his/her own profit, but mods are not that. Mods are additional work put onto an existing basis. It doesn't matter that the mod wouldn't exist without the base content, it is still the fruit of labour and no one can tell anyone to toil for free: that's a decision only the worker can make. And there is nothing less noble about not doing it for free, because work is the core of a dignified human existence. It is by our toil that we impress our mark on the world and might survive the inevitable decay and death of our worldly being.

They are misguided but in my opinion this comes from mods beeing free for the longest time. They where made by fans for fans and everybody was happy. But people started to complain and rage about mods without reason, bragging for more and more, demanding more content, quicker releases (exactly how it is nowadays in the gaming industry) and of course that's another reason for people wanting money for their mods if you have to deal with idiots like this everytime. I bet @Runey knows exactly what I mean :ROFLMAO:
I could go on and on but I don't want to get too much off topic, so lets just say: things have changed and the good'ol times never come back^^

Sure, the feeling of entitlement a lot of people have due to mods having been free for a long time is a factor. But the argument they make can only be applied to mods that were free and became paywalled, since for mods that have never been free no sense of entitlement can be justified.
What I wanted to particularly point out is that some people find it morally wrong to ask money for mods and that can be explained in my opinion only with people underappreciating labour and fetishizing intellectual property to undue extremes: if the holder of a famous IP makes a shitty cash grab reusing old assets no one bats an eye, but if a person puts hundreds of hours into making new content for an existing game and doesn't do it for free people lose their minds.
Bethesda can keep releasing Skyrim with minor tweaks as if it were a new game with no outrage, but a modder is immoral if he/she asks money to provide new features that go beyond what the game was capable of. All because the modder doesn't have IP rights over the base product, which would be a valid objection if the modder charged the price for the game and not only the price for the mod.

Btw, a lot of the people complaining here about Lain don't even know that Lain is helping with a new feature for the game they're playing, iirc.

Not to mention that lain works on his mods full time. It's his job. He has to eat.

WTF? Is that a real screenshot from game or a photoshop edit? WHAT IS GOING ON?
It is real picture from the game but text is totally different, if you don't want to play the preview version then you need to wait for full release to understand what is going on. I'm not going to spoil anything here.
