You can't say it wouldn't be nice to have voice lines in that game, if you say so, this means your a straight up liar (or an anti-new technologies person which is not good for the game's health). You're probably scared you won't like the voice lines and probably think you will detest the game afterwords but you don't know if you don't try! Don't be scared of adaptation. There's always a way to make things great and better. First time you tried the game, did you expect anything? Would you speak the same if the sounds were already included? Probably not. Knowing how Runey did awesomely great in this game so far, i'm convinced it would be a great addition to the game no doubt. The guy is very knowledgeable and i know he would make the right choice whether it is to choose the girls to get the voice from or when to put them in game. Also when you say people, that doesn't include me because i would fucking like to hear some sounds when fucking Lin or Maria and i know i'm not the only one who thinks that way (sounds are what excites the most!). Images make you big, sounds make you cum never heard of that? You would be less happy if you were forced to watch porn without sounds than with them (it's just how it is *shrug*). Look, i'm just saying it would make the game more alive for porn game enthusiasts but as i said in my last comment, no matter what happens, this game will always be one of my top tiers.
I never said it wouldn't be nice to have voiced lines in general, what I said was I don't enjoy voiced sex lines because it's always the generic porn moans and lines that get used in literally everything that gets audio except the occasional voiced VN. I am not against new tech, but you would be wrong about whether being against new tech is bad for the game's health, it isn't because I am only a player and even if Runey was, it still wouldn't be bad. You don't need new tech in everything.
No, I'm not scared I won't like the voice lines, that would be a silly thing to be afraid of, but I already know I won't like it. What I AM scared of is the game taking hits because Runey tried to do something that we all know isn't feasible on a one person project because someone asked. I won't detest the game, Runey couldn't pay me enough to detest this game, not even Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk combined could pay me enough to detest this game.
Here's the thing I HAVE tried voiced lines AND voiced sex lines, that's how I know I don't like voiced sex lines in games or half done voiced audio in anything. I've played the Neptunia games, games that are pretty well known for having unavoidable budget issues that resulted in some lines not being available in English audio, Japanese audio, or both audio languages. They couldn't avoid it, they funded as many voiced lines as they could and just didn't have enough for the whole game, but had already budgeted toward having voiced lines in the first place. Runey doesn't have to make that mistake. There is always a way to make things better, but voiced lines in a one person developed VN isn't it.
The first time I tried the game, I expected it to be just a typical porn game and was proven horribly wrong. No, I would not speak the same, I wouldn't be playing if sex sounds were included, it would have already failed to keep me playing a long time ago. If voice audio, not including sex sounds, was included, I would be praising Runey for his miraculous ability to have funded a fully voiced, one person developed VN on his own. That is an insane task for one person to take on alone financially speaking and we can't forget the effort of coordinating with all the voice actors. If the audio was only half done, meaning not every single line in the game was voiced outside of sex sounds, I would also have dropped the game very quickly.
It would be a great addition to have voices for the general speaking lines, but the effort and funding required is just not feasible for one person and threatens to drag the efforts he already puts in down the drain. He's better off focusing on what he has already been doing, making great visuals and writing a great story.
I know it doesn't include you when I say people, people just means more than one person whether you are counted or not. There are at least two of us who wouldn't want voiced sex lines, so people is the appropriate term there. Hate to break it to you, though, but sound is not always the thing that excites the most. It does to some people, including yourself, but not everyone. For me, granted I'm in it for the story alone, it would be a huge turn off to have sex audio. Now, great music, especially an original soundtrack, and general voices would be great, especially the music, but again, it is not feasible for one person. On that note, Runey, if you ever want original music, I'm open for it, no compensation and all rights to you, I would just ask to be credited and it would take a while as I would have to write it and record it first, of course. I would actually consider it a pretty big honor, if I'm being honest.
Both images and sound do nothing for me in that way, that's just how I am. I need an actual romantic attraction to be sexually attracted to anything and romantic attractions are reserved for real people with me. As for porn, it wouldn't matter to me, I don't use porn in the usual way, I just use it to kill time when I don't have anything better I feel like doing.
I get it, yes, it would make the game more alive, but at potentially fatal cost for the game as a whole. As a single person developer, Runey would have to devote time away from actual game development to coordinate with the voice actors, he would have to spend time implementing the voices. All this while no actual new content is getting done AND sent out to patrons and free players for potentially months while things are being recorded and gathered into one place for implementation. In a fully Patreon funded project, taking that long to get even a single update out CAN be a death sentence. I've seen people start complaining about how long an update is taking in less time than it would take to implement this, inside a normal release period even, for other games, of course. I can only imagine how bad the comments of 'it's dead,' 'it's abandoned,' or 'the dev is milking his patrons,' would get if Runey tried this. The risks are just not worth the reward.
A lot of people lose their shit when an anime is dubbed, and insist that they watch the subbed version. They're many many reasons for this im sure, the voice not matching up with what you thought of in your head is probably one of them. I don't think it's needed at all honestly, I don't think it is worth the effort to get voice acting. Maybe if he does a kickstarter to finish the game and it gets overly supported then he could but, otherwise meh.
Plus having voice files would add tons of file space and the game size would likely triple in size and people will complain that much more about it.
Oh boy, do they. You don't want to know how many times I've been on the dub side of that argument. Then again, I don't mind subbed if it is the only option. The mismatch of voice is definitely a big one and that is a concern I have with the voice idea in this game. Agreed, it isn't necessary, this IS a visual NOVEL after all. Definitely not worth the effort. Maybe if Runey had more hands working on the game, but not with one person. Very true on the space concerns, audio files can be massive compared to other file types and this game is already pretty big.
