The story, the character and their development. As many others, I may have come for the porn, but stayed for the story.
Still if you want make an own thread ask your question and hopefully get answers that will help you you. You wouldn't be the first aspiring game dev doing that and wouldn't be the last or you could search for similar threads before posting your own...

What makes a game good or not depends on what people are looking for in a game.
Some people want games with well thought out stories that progress over time.
Some people want, "HI! FUCK ME!!!".
Some games, it seems like the dev is pretty much winging each release, with not much of an ultimate goal in mind except to collect all of the girls like pokemon.
Quite often, games that have not been planned out in advance, end up being abandoned, because the dev loses track of what they were doing, grows bored with it, or changes their mind about what they were doing, and they start yet another game that will likely be abandoned.
This game.
The story is good and entertaining.
It has been well thought out in advance, with an ultimate goal in mind.
That helps a lot with continuity, since without the advanced planning the story could bounce all over the place, and make little sense.
The story telling is well done, and even contains humor that can be a lot of fun.
The graphics, even considering the style of graphics that the game uses, are exceptionally well done.
Most games that use the same program for the graphics, look like someone dumped cooking oil on all of the characters, and they have grossly oversized breasts and asses that make it look even worse.
Skin is not naturally shiny, and not all women have tits the size of large watermelons, and not all asses should have wide load signs.
Not everyone likes that look, and Runey seems to understand that there are a lot of people who like more realistic body shapes.
Runey, went for a much more realistic character build and skin tones, which really helps with the games over all appearance.

As I said in my last post, not everyone is looking for the same thing.
If you do not like the graphics, then go look for another game that has graphics that you like.
Yeah, if you compare the art here, to where it started, or to other HS games, it's certainly one of the better ones, Runey has learned a lot, and now is using custom art, lighting, and more.
Generally, I prefer the cold, so I am a bit more compatible the frost elves, but I assume they dress a bit more warmly than the desert ones.
