"Unregistered"?? I literally bought them from the HHA...? They're literally registered.

Not that one we got from the card game last time. And possibly Peni if you are on the slave route with Nia.
But the one game is the one they know about.

If I put my save files into the newly downloaded version of the game, is that how it's supposed to be done? So that I don't have to replay from the beginning and is any of the content added happening before the end of the last version?

Are you by any chance playing the beta, or using a save file from it?
The beta was never supposed to have been released to the public, because it had bugs.
We tried to warn people about it when the beta was leaked to F95.
Everyone who had used the beta was having issues similar to that.

The only fix if it is the beta is to either start over from the very beginning with the official release of version 0.18 or to get a save file from someone else to use in the official release..

You can try deleting the 2 'persistent' files, and loading a save from before you tried the beta.
