Hello everyone! Harem Hotel turned 7 this may, and what a journey it's been.
Over seven years ago I started this project with little game dev experience, and no writing experience. Since then, Harem Hotel has grown far beyond what I could have imagined. Through your support, developing Harem Hotel has truly changed my life for the better in ways I couldn't have possibly predicted. So to everyone who has played, shared, streamed, or supported the game, THANK YOU! This is as much a celebration of you as it is the continued development.
Seven years of growth, learning, and... some unfortunate surprises along the way. There aren't many platforms willing to support this type of content, and many more authorities would love to see it all burn, especially these days. Crazy how a couple of cute girls can threaten a government so much. Though I suppose we see that first hand in the game too, don't we? :)
There are many projects planned for Harem Hotel going forward, such as a mobile phone feature, a new main and side character, and "Explore 2.0" to name just a few. I'm very excited for the future of Harem Hotel, and I hope you'll all be there to witness the end :)
I try not to make a habit of talking about my personal life too much, but development has been slow in May due to some severe illness I had. I figured it would last only a few days, but it culminated in me having a damaged lung over the course of weeks. I'm not sure what it was, but development is back on track.
As always, thank you all so much for supporting Harem Hotel. You can expect v0.19 Beta 3 soon!

I will say, games like this are the reason I stopped playing incomplete games. 7 years working on this game. A lot of AAA games take around 5 to 6 years to make. Example: Resident Evil 4 (not the remake) took 6 years.

Yeah, I'm just whining and complaining to the void. I decided to do that instead of asking when the next update is and kill another fairy... oh wait. oh no. Sorry to the fairy that died just now.

You also realize that most AAA games have more than one person working on them, and have worse writing/stories, right? Not really a fair comparison.

AAA games usually have teams numbering around 100.
This is mostly just 1 person.
Try for a better comparison... like...
Stardew valley took 4 and a bit years, the second half of that was with Chucklefish assisting. other than that it was mostly just 1 person.

And Stardew uses mostly the same assets over and over, since it's RPGM using sprites, not Ren'Py using full renders.

There is a counter-argument to be stated here that ya'll don't wanna hear. lol
I don't really want to cause drama. I really just wanted to complain for a bit.

You are looking at it all wrong, this is not so much a game - it is a Visual Novel. There is scant to little actual gameplay with mechanics and combat and platforming lol. Now if you INSTEAD compare it to novels? Hoo boy, there are novel series several millions words long and continuing with thousands of characters and you tend not to see people growing that THEY are still going (in fact most people tend to want their favoured series to keep going so long as there is a reasonable chance then they time comes the author WILL give a satisfying conclusion). Instead they lean more on "arcs" so often a big arc will conclude and then another will start. Harem Hotel could have ended years ago but but would have been robbed of all the great characters and plotlines that have been added since.

Would have preferred that and instead his delivery was say Harem Hotel 2 (where we get to explore the city etc just the same as here... but with a different title to superficially act like a sequel?). I prefer what Runey has done here - all the story beats, all those HUNDREDS of sex scenes and all those girls accessible at a whim all in one place. Though i am a little done with the whole "remade x scenes" by now, i approved of that back in the day but he is STILL remaking old content and i think by now he should be using that development time to pad out some of the lesser featured content and girls - from the drunk at the bar to some of the slaves like Ann, i want more scenes for them and am much more hyped about that kind of thing vs having to restart the game for the 27th time to see what has changed yet again from the existing content.

To be fair, a lot of the remakes are things he does in his spare time, while waiting on the testers and stuff like that. Once the rest of the update is finished. Also, I think he is close to done on that, unless anyone reports anything that needs fixing. Though there are a few continuity issues that need to be corrected now, but that is mostly text changes, nothing complected.

But yeah, I can't bring myself to start over, even just to see the changes.

Yes its dumb to hold indie developers to the standards of triple A studios even more so that most AAA studios just do slop with microtransactions and greedy dlc theses days

I just like this story. Models, scene and all is pretty good, but is power of this game is a story.
I just skip adult content and read the story like a book.
This game have better story of many top titles in fantasy genre.

I like every person every story-line it's a just another universe, may be too close real world.

I replayed a few times.
Took me at least 10 hours to complete from the beginning to the end of the latest updates.
I had to skip so many headpats. And I don't think I will ever reach god level like you.
It's over nine thousands!:Kappa::KEK:
