Yu-No, highly recommend that game. There's some Grave of the Fireflies level shit in there. That's why I don't take anyone praising these patreon games seriously, they're decent for porn at best. They could be as good, it's not like Japan as a monopoly on writing but even the blue balling "story" games don't delve into emotional territory, it remains porno writing. But some of the japanese porn games have legitimate effort put into the writing, they sometimes get mainstream releases with the porn cut out because they're so great.

I haven't played any, but it wouldn't be too hard to make one with a sad beginning. The Main Character's Dad is totally awesome and he gets some quality scenes with him being a great dad who's a good husband too...for the week he's in game before his tragic death saving his family from a fire/car accident/mugger/whatever. Then you do the montage, plus you get to do the rare rendering of MC in the deepest throes of grief...before you timeskip a month and pick things up in the new bereaved household.

tears in my eyes? puuuuh, gotta say i didnt play kana little sister 'cause i heard how heart breaking the story there is, so i'm handicapped here ^^. but i think when i finished yume miru kusuri - a drug that makes you dream where hiroko (a girl who used drugs to flee from reality...making her think she would actually be a fairy) suddenly visits the MC after months, telling him that she got clean and all that. and on top of the ferris wheel she then said something like:"welcome to the fairy world", which made my heart melt like ice back then xD. yu-no is also quite heart touching.

Cried like a motherfucker. Multiple times.
That was a steamroller-gut-punch to me. Fuck.
That shit tore me apart. Even more so because the MCs backstory hits close to home.

I did not expect that when starting that game up.
