A few times, if the Story is well written and i can identify myself with the chars in it. (Same can happened if i am listening to Music or reading a book, watching a movie)

- Acting Lessons (classic) my Girlfriend introduced me to this kind of games and looked at me in a total schock when i started it and mentioned "Oh God not this one!!!"
And i made the horrible Mistake to start it on a afternoon and finished it at 3.00 in the morning..
Crawled in our bed and started holding her that tight, maybe i was about to break her some ribs...

- Depraved Awakening: The scene when Stella was "meeting" her Husband again and the funeral scene near the end.

- The DeLuca Family: Lunas Backstory killed me, i have no children but...

- Hillside: When Lucy told us what happened to Charlotte (still hoping in further updates we can "visit" these Guys...)

- Leap of Faith: The Scene with Cece on the bridge and a little bit later when "we" are sitting together on the bench..

Wow now i noticed myself what kind of crybaby i can be :ROFLMAO:

there are some that made me cry yes. most of them are already named here. but the thing that makes me cry more than other is when great games get really bad endings. not in someone dies or something, more in like rushed to end them. and that happens a lot lately.

Radiant got me, i could not stop to shed tears, when mc reads the letter from his "lost memory dream girl", after what happend i was still in hope that she would someday stand at his doorstep asking for shelter, but no....fucking cancer

I am sure that there are more, i might try all the games that other ppl mentioned above, just to know if that would get me too as far as that moment in Radiant.

Beside of that Adult Games, i also shed tears playing other games, like Someday You'll Return, because of the whole story, Assassins Creed Black Flag, the ending together with the song "parting glass" is so emotional that it got me, Mass Effect games especially part 3 of shepards trilogy, that is like a road of sacrificing crew members and at the end shepard himself, Final Fantasy Games, on moments like when Red XIII is visiting his home grounds, seeing his father that turned into stone, Dragon Age Games are also full of moments where i was crying like a little baby. I also shed tears watching movies or even weirder for some ppl, watching animes, like Grave of the Fireflies, Your Name, A Whisker Away, just to mention some of those that made my cry a lot. At least some of them because of a happy ending, so those were tears of joy.

Most of them, no, but Extracurricular Activities did. I was, still am honestly, deeply into Coach Grifter. He's all buff and chubby and depressive as hell, I loved that cos he was this sweet guy who I felt I needed to protect. I think it was the scene where he had broken down in the closest, I think that got me. Cos I just had this mental image of this big, adorable guy so vulnerable. And then the option to tell him you love him came up and you bet your bollocks I hammered that. Hell, if that was an option during his first depressive episode in the game, I would've picked it. XD That guy was just so worth the affection I made my character show on him... It wasn't much, but it did hit me in the feels pretty hard.

There was a time when I blubbered like a baby to a porn game but 1) it was my own project and 2) it's probably never going to be completed. It was a dating sim which shared the same vibe as Extracurricular Activities (teachers and students at a university this time) but also took the cruelty of DRAMAtical Murder (some characters were okay if you picked someone else, others... No). This was a game with drama, people getting jealous cos you took the person they loved, people with home issues or drink problems. But the one that made me cry was the "secret" romance. You only got it by picking special names and matching them with the right path (I'd planned to have 4 origins, student, teacher, parent and just Average Joe in town). If you didn't pick his path, or if you couldn't, then... Well, I doubt it's gonna be completed and I doubt any of you care for it, so I might as well say the major plot point.

Honestly, it gets me every time, it's some of the best emotional writing I've done and it'll probably never see the light of day. :/

Nah. Most of the stories are simply too poorly written for me to feel anything for any of the characters. This is especially the case with the games where you can feel that the story was made to accommodate certain H scenes. There are many of that kind of games, and it often makes the stories incredibly shallow.

There's also the issue with character agency, where I often feel that the world is a bit too unbelievable. Like for instance those school settings where you are the only guy attending a girl's school. Seriously, how fragile are the players of these games? Can't they take that there are other dudes around.

That brings me to my last issue here; most of the characters are one dimensional. Seemingly, their only real raison d'être is to be a cocksleve for the MC/NPC's. They rarely have any dreams, desires or God forbid interests in other dudes than the MC. I cannot relate to characters who are this poorly made, and that standard is unfortunately very common in adult games.

A good story is one that either makes me laugh or makes me cry. And there are just as many hentai games that make me laugh as there are that make me cry. Course, there's about as many that either have a story I am wholly uninterested in, or one that has one which irritates me to the point where I stop playing it outright.

Course, a game is supposed to prioritize gameplay, regardless of the genre. Everything else is secondary, including the story. It's a game. You play it.

Well I didn't cry per se, not yet at least but there is one game, one little fucker, dev that no one heard about. Of course I wish him all the luck in the world (he needs it) and who knows one day he might actually get somewhere, enough to be noticed at least. But ye his first game made me sad AF.

I think the Japanese market is where the sadness theme will mostly come from.
We have a few games that have gone to that route but still not like the Japanese adult market.
Our market is mostly the comedic and silliness style with high school themes and dildo guns.
But our market is slowly evolving (in the eyes of some it's devolving) and more and more tear-jerkers are appearing.

Never really got to the point of crying. But certainly felt emotions / emptiness with some games. DMD got me to that point when going through a pure route and your daughter loses certain things as a result of her relationship with her father. That got a little close to home for me as I hate people being judged for loving each other.

Other than that I sometimes feel an emptiness when a story has too many plot holes that remain unanswered or story not being finished within a reasonable time frame. Like "Our Fate" has an interesting story, but hasn't been updated in like a year it seems. It's not that I blame developers for anything, just sad that the story doesn't come to a conclusion.

Not exactly cried, but I really felt full of emotions and sometimes tears welled up too while playing Acting Lessons and Being a DIK. Sometimes, they were happy tears and while other times they were because of this feeling of emptiness, or sadness. I think, both of these games' wonderful soundtrack played a big role in this. In fact, I really love its soundtrack and have come to listen to those songs even outside the game.
