it's a US law for those who fall under US federal income tax jurisdiction. any businesses incorporated in any US state or territory would fall under this jurisdiction. if you are self-employed resident/citizen in US, you call under this jurisdiction. if you are a foreign national whose income is taxable under US Code falls under this jurisdiction.Though, if the 600$ law applies to Patreon, does it apply to Subscribestar as well? What about using Stripe and Transferwise and making your own website?
If all fails, we could go DroidFans(beeg fan btw) way which is to set up a Delaware Corporation, until you can move to another state/nationality
Then, by that point, is it safe to assume that the Indonesian government have no jurisdiction or legal right?it's a US law for those who fall under US federal income tax jurisdiction. any businesses incorporated in any US state or territory would fall under this jurisdiction. if you are self-employed resident/citizen in US, you call under this jurisdiction. if you are a foreign national whose income is taxable under US Code falls under this jurisdiction.
Delaware corporations are under US tax jurisdiction.
subscribestar and stripe are expected to follow US regulations for taxes reporting. in fact stripe has several articles online regarding this. transferwise is a foreign company for US market, i don't know their business practices or user requirements, but they fall under EU regulations.
this whole thread is a mixture of information. the US taxes aren't what the original post is about. it's about the illegality of porn in Indonesia and a person who lives there is wanting to create a porn game without getting arrested ... or worse. Then, by that point, is it safe to assume that the Indonesian government have no jurisdiction or legal right?
Or is it just a technicality?
Sorry, just curiousthis whole thread is a mixture of information. the US taxes aren't what the original post is about. it's about the illegality of porn in Indonesia and a person who lives there is wanting to create a porn game without getting arrested ... or worse.
they wondered if they could create a fake identity on Patreon to hide themselves. or have someone front for them. Patreon is required to track income based upon each country's regulations especially for taxes. this then devolved into a discussion on how that can be problematic in the end and can cause even more problems. that then devolved into the discussion of what triggers reporting for taxes in the US, which changed this year to $600.
now, 2 months after this thread was resolved we're discussing stripe, subscribestar and transferwise.
They're being discussed because the original poster was also curious about methods of receiving payment with companies that have cooperation with Indonesia and make tracking that kind of information rather easy. Names that came up happen to deal with US law, which makes tracking very easy...and possibly requested by Indonesia. Personally, I feel it was alright to “wander” from the direct path to smell the roses here on such a thing.this whole thread is a mixture of information. the US taxes aren't what the original post is about. it's about the illegality of porn in Indonesia and a person who lives there is wanting to create a porn game without getting arrested ... or worse.
