He's not actually taking a break, judging by the last status update. it sounds like he just had a slow month in May which is why paused Patreon subs again until July 1st. So he didn't actually stop development, he's just throwing patrons a bone. We're probably a couple months away, but take that with a grain of salt. As always, the update will be ready when it's ready.
It's best to wait until you get a better update, but I hope you don't wait too long.
