Just as we wonder why so many people still play card games when there are so many realistic video games! Why do so many people still read books when there are so many films?
There's imagination, I know that no game, no character will be as perfect as what my imagination makes me see, the image is just a starting point, a shortcut.
And then, even though I'm not sure, I think the paper doll system is much faster than AI generation, given the number of individuals and the number of transformations they undergo in the course of the game.
It must be at least 5 years since I last played this game, and none of the ways I used to play it work any more (and I'm glad they don't!), so the game has really changed!

Are there any noticeable changes (in recent YEARS)? It seemed to me that the game has been standing still for many years and nothing has changed, the art is very outdated, they could use AI to help.
Okay, I have one question. How can I play on my Ubuntu? I use Bottles and set the basic configuration, but the image quality is poor, and it runs too slowly.

Alternatively, if you start a new game and set the fetish for "Mind Control" to max, you start with the book already in your inventory.
I keep trying to open the game but nothing happens besides the cursor doing the spinny wheel thing for a second. No processes are being opened in task manager either. I've already tried installing the two .Nets and it isn't in any non user folders. I've also tried running it as administrator. There are no errors it just doesn't open.

If we include the first one this game is 15 years old and there are still bugfixes ?! F.cking hell.

There's also new stuff and code rewrites, so of course bugfixing is still needed. Weird take.
Why? Don't think there's much of a benefit for replacing the existing system - especially since you will need dozens of different looking characters with variants for each uniform and their corruption stages. The current paperdoll system is much more efficient for that.
I personally think the art still lives up fine, the problem perhaps isn't the art as much as the content. In this case though perhaps the variation can certainly be quickly improved using AI to help generate the images. Because the base model of the art is anime style, it doesn't really change much for the decade.
Really like this game and honestly havent been able to find anything close to it. Is there any and I'm just missing them?

Cheats are built in and very easy to use if this is too grindy.
The way I set up easy mode for myself is to cheat in some money and then set hypnosis/suggestion to 100. That still leaves a lot of gameplay, but it is less onerous.
Nah, there just aren't that much. There's The Headmaster, but that one's more a VN with sandbox aspects, with a story and limited cast. Still unfinished.
There's Corrupted Academy, but it's more obvious corruption and AFAIK still relatively early in development.
Also Academy: Live!, but that's also more story-oriented and also pretty early in dev.
None of them come really close to what makes HHS+ great.
Why are people suggesting to use AI CGs? It's so low-effort and samey.
I think the "low effort" is the point. It's perceived to be an easy way to get a lot of CGs with minimal effort. Also no need to hire an artist (which might not even be affordable, especially sicne this is not a commercial product).
You can put as much effort into AI gen as you want. It's possible to have a very distinct art style. It's possible to add a lot of specific detail. It's possible to make scripts to streamline and automate making new AI art that conforms to what is already ingame. It's even possible to make a script to generate new unique art live as you are playing the game, similar to how it's done in "Pregmod" for "Free Cities".
Using AI doesn't even preclude using the paper doll system, these can be integrated. You can generate paper doll parts too.
The real problem is that it's not worth the bother. This game is a dead end. Super rare game engine that only a handful of people know what to do with. Super complex game for not much benefit but a lot problems, multiplying as more stuff is added. This should have been abandoned 10 years ago already. So much bloat could be pruned from this if started from scratch on a more popular game engine.
