You're only able to see the CG from encountering the 'Camera Guy' or whatever he's called later on in the game. Wish it just had something in the menu, but what can you do.

Im stuck at a point where the new map is telling me it isnt unlocked yet, is that as far as the game goes currently or have i bugged the progression?

That's as far as it goes for now.
There's a new update on the Booth store '2024-10-19,' I'll update it here sometime next week probably. (I have to translate all the new stuff and fix some of the borked translation I did before)

Biker random event. Takes half your cash to get you to the end, or all your cash to get you home.
I font know if its Stealth or Skill, but when you have enough of it, you can catch him.

This hasn't been finished yet, you can only buy skills from the first girl right now.
As it was already said, yes it's a random event, losing all your cash that early on the game isn't that big of a deal since you are building stats, later on you'll have the str to destroy car windows without problem and you can make up for all the money you lose multiple times over
Bonus translation note.
I noticed you changed some instances of "Chaka" into "gun", but not all. I'm sorry I dont have the exact line right here, but it was one of those tooltip-like ones that pop when you're just walking.
Personally, Id keep as chaka (not capitalized) as its apparently actual slang and thats how its written on the game interface, unless you're up to modding that too.

A Rogue-like/Souls-like 2D JRPG is the best I can come up with, haven't played anything quite like this either.
Yeah pretty much a rogue-lite or rogue-like. You try and fail and try again until you get lucky and beat a stage. Your progress is only saved if you reach the base either by beating the boss in that stage or meeting the biker lady by luck and pay her to drive you. Then you can retry that level or the next one and keep all items, money and stats you had since the last save from coming back to base. If you die you loose all the progress made in that try
