It changed it, but it's just the dates on the top left are layered over each other, which means that if one isn't removed in the script (which I probably forgot to do at some point), all the ones under will never show up. That means every date before Soldath morning (Lundath morning to Fridath morning) will be hidden under the Soldath morning image no matter if you sleep or not, and only the Soldath evening will appear on top, which is why I asked you to sleep to Soldath evening to see if thereally the issue indeed was that one layer was stuck and hiding most of the others.
Anyway, I'm glad you got it working in the end ; )
I understand what you mean, but I'll probably stick to the 4 characters formula. It provides just the right amount of diversity for the characters, and switching between their storylines during development makes it less boring.
Besides, it isn't really the amount of characters that's the problem. HC2 had 5 in total, but development was faster. The problem is the scale of the quests, and the quality improvements for the sex scenes. Scenes are now more complex than they used to be, and require a lot of custom art, which also takes a lot of time to explain to the artists with references and everything. There are alos mini-stories, freeroam that are now far more complex than they used to be, more new maps, etc...
However, I've tried to reduce the scale of the quests lately, especially the side-ones. I managed that with Lily's last quest, which barely took more than a month, and Haylen's new update would have been out within the week if I hadn't been dealing with development and minor health setbacks.
I'll try to keep it up as much as I can. Also, one thing I plan one doing in HC4 is to make the side quests mandatory, and thus part of the broader main quest. That means characters will be able to interact with each other more, and everything should feel more organic and less diluted, as you put it
(I wrote all that before your latest comment, which adresses a lot of the points I made above. I'll keep everything in mind and decide later on, but I still think mirroring the amount of side and main characters, so 2 and 2 in this case, feels best. I could always change my mind in the future though)
The idea was to keep the side quests optional in HC3, which means that Haylen and Lily barely interact with the girls in the main quest and with each other, because it might create a lot of problems. Imagine Haylen after quest 6 interacting with Lily who hasn't been corrupted yet, their interaction would be a lot different than if they were both corrupted.
Also, if in one quest one side heroine is away from the city, or stuck in bed because she's sick, and then we see her appear in the main quest as if nothing happened, then that wouldn't make sense.
As stated above, I do intend to make side quests mandatory in HC4, so everything feels more cohesive and not compartimented like in HC3 and HC2.
