Aywin was a flawed mother. She actually did the right thing, just for the wrong reasons. Husband died, so she found a new man to both protect her and her family and fill that emotional hole she needed. The issue is most of that 'emotional hole' was a 'sexual awakened' hole, where she was finally desired by a man that wasn't all but asexual like Noahs dad, and who had the stamina and equipment that she could use to explore sex for pleasure in that wild way teenagers do. And that man secretly killed her husband as part of his plan to steal her, but she doesn't find that out until waaaay too late.

I don't pay much attention during Haylen scenes because I'm not a Mom NTR enjoyer, but if I recall the crux of Haylens plot is that Jaxon gives her a healthier outlet for the fantasies she had about Leto which she definately shouldn't be having as his basically adoptive mother. And it's a little bit of that belated 'explore sexuality' thing that Aywin had, for different reasons (being a church nun and I assume voluntarily celibate).

The things she said to fool herself fooled him too haha, I saved her in some parts (mainly at the beginning), but 80% was her being a HORRIBLE, horny and mythomaniac mother ( which I find extremely hot ).

Well to me personally I ALWAYS check the char. portraits as much as possible. Quite disappointed they don't change as much but can't wait to see their further progression. Kind of expected to have a portrait change each update but oh well..

I can cut Celis a little more slack, because based on her behaviour leading up to her own bad decisions she comes across as naive and legitimately unintelligent, but Aywin was an adult woman in at least her late 30s who had lived through a war and had seen her husband work for and manage their village for close to half her life. She knew Zeno was an unscrupulous bastard going in, yet all it took for her to start providing sexual favours was him whipping out his dick. She then spent the rest of the game actively behaving in a way that was contrary to what should have been the most imporant role in her life: being a mother to her son. Haylen will never be worse than Aywin by pure virtue of the fact that she has valid excuses whereas Aywin just wanted dick.

Unfortunately getting new portraits each update is pretty unrealistic. A good artist usually takes a month+ for each drawing they do, and it's also quite expensive. Rightfully, the developer has chosen to instead invest in pixel animations which give you more bang for your buck.

Plus, with the focus on pixel animations HC remains unique. Take away its biggest selling point and it's just another RPG Maker produced game. The lack of heavy CG is what allows the HC games to stand out.

The wait time between main quest updates really is a bummer sometimes. That wait time is the primary reason I hope N_Taii doesn't have optional side characters in HC4 because as much as I may enjoy the occasional Lily or Haylen scene... the lack of Rose content really makes the wait time between main quest updates feel a lot longer.

Honestly, I hope the developer tries a different update schedule for HC4. I wouldn't mind having an update every 3 months with several quests, new portraits and outfits for each girl, etc. Rather than this piecemeal dripfeed. One thing that annoys me is that the portrait updates are rarely in line with the appropriate quest, which I understand why because the developer can't just wait on an artist forever. But having a larger update every few months would make each update feel more complete and significant.

Also, I think with more time between updates you can go back and revise, make changes... Focus more on quality rather than a constant treadmill of new stuff all the time.
