You hope you're not going to get NTR'd again in a game where you've already been NTR'd repeatedly? I hope you've been picking the right colour when the ending choices pop up then...
lol, it's Leto who's being ntred, i'm cool here. i'm talking in the sense that an unsatisfactory ending was going to ntr me, it was supposed to be a joke.

Ah. Jokes... I have difficulty with those.

All I'll say in regards to the ending is temper your expectations. We're two and a half games deep and N_Taii has gone to the deus ex machina well twice and has not attempted to adequately punish the women for their betrayal twice. While I'm not saying he's going to do it again... expect it and set your expectations accordingly.

I've brought up the issues with the revenge endings in the past and gotten a response from N_Taii about it. He basically stated that he has a hard time committing to the revenge endings because he doesn't like mistreating his characters, specifically the women, which is why the women never seem to get punished in the revenge endings. Their circumstances have more or less remained what they would have been if the MCs hadn't usurped the villains in both previous HCs. In two games and eight women only Aywin really wound up in a worse situation than she otherwise would have been and that's only because Patreon doesn't allow incest, and even then she's still getting all the dick she could possibly want and is enjoying herself.

What I'd like to see for the revenge ending in HC3 is relatively simple. I want Leto to actually take revenge. Update 16 reveals that the Peacekeepers eat the emotions and mental capabilities of people for power. I'm hoping that N_Taii follows through with the Chekhov's Gun he has shown us and has someone sacrificed to the Peacekeepers in the endings. In a potential revenge ending Leto should bare minimum sacrifice the duke and Ulrod, and then if he actually turns truly villainous anyone who questions him. N_Taii has set the stage for actua, factual, brutal revenge... but I don't think he'll do it.
I don't agree entirely but I think that a revenge or "good" ending definitely involves Leto triumphing over the Duke and Ulrod in some way and that it would involve destroying the current world order with the peacekeepers and establishing something new. But I think Leto should remain within the hero archetype. Even if we go down the road of antihero, at least him turning almost the same as a classic villain would defeat the point imo. It needs to be in line with who he is, even if his morals and worldview fundamentally changed by the end.

You're not wrong, Leto going through a heel turn would kind of defeat the purpose of a good ending, however I wouldn't define the revenge ending as a good ending. I know N_Taii is intending to approach the finale differently than he did previously by not having a "true" ending, but if we assume he's still going to have a revenge ending I fully expect it to be completely distinct from the good ending. My hope is for there to be a good ending, in which Leto saves the day, order is restored, his relationships with the girls are restored as well as they can be, and for the duke and company to be punished. An NTR ending in which Leto is betrayed by everyone he holds dear, defeated by his enemies, and the country falls to the oppressive might of Queen Rose and her villainous cohorts. Finally, a revenge ending in which Leto destroys his enemies and wins the day, but the humiliation, betrayal, and manipulation he suffered at the hands of Rose twists his world view.

Leto's lack of a truly defined character makes his endgame status quite malleable and I believe that he should be adapted to the ending themes. If it's the good ending then he's a hero, if it's the bad ending then he's a loser, if it's the revenge ending he's a villain. One of the few advantages of making him a mute character is that he's never going to have strong personality which means it's easy to change him to fit specific situations.

yea I mostly agree.
Though I would say that his character is surprisingly defined actually. Despite not having any dialogue, the way he emote-reacts to certain things, the way characters that are in dialogue with him repeat what he's (roughly) been saying, and the way he acts or doesn't act given information given and things he sees kind of gives the audience a decently defined impression of his character imo.

He's certainly better defined than Noah and Casio given that Leto is capable of minimal speech and he reacts to a more varied situations than they had the option to, but he's still a fairly blank slate. Leto is a sketch of a character and that means he can be changed to fit the situation without feeling too out of character, especially considering some of the red choices.

I would like for there to be a good ending, because that means true NTR was avoidable in some way.

I'm well aware that a good ending would still mean most of the story was NTR, but having any "good ending" that returns the girls to the player is ideal. Not because I want to avoid NTR, but it means that the player is capable of making the choice to do it. I think it makes the choice of going full NTR all the more savorable.

Games that always end in NTR have less of an impact on me. That's why I enjoyed playing Seeds of Chaos and Abaddon: Princess of Decay. It felt really good to steer my character into the worst possible situation or corrupt heroines into hating my player or steering them into other people. Looking back at what the player could've gotten if they made the "right choices" just adds to the feeling. I think the term here is sadomasochism? Because I like both perspectives of self-inserting and being detached from my player.

My problem with NTR that has an avoidable NTR ending is that its never done in a believable way. And the only way to get NTR ends up being to play poorly or make stupid choices.

My view of avoidable NTR endings in NTR games is that the NTR has already happened, so what's the point of a happy ending? My personal view is that, regardless of how the story tends, Leto should dump Rose and she should be sad and alone. Even before factoring in it being impossible for me to believe that they'd be sexually compatible there's still the simple fact that Rose is betraying Leto on a daily basis and enjoying it. I don't like good endings in NTR because they quite often don't have consequences for anyone but the bad guys. If I were Leto and I learned that Rose had been cheating on me for months with a guy over twice her age who was obviously an unscrupulous bastard I would dump her without a second thought even after we saved the day and defeated him. To do anything otherwise feels like an impossible suspension of disbelief to me.

I get that, but some people are just really nice. Sometimes someone just forgives others really easy. You don't have to find it relatable, most people aren't capable of it. But I'm sure you can at least understand how Leto could see how Rose had obviously been pressured into everything, and decided that finding pleasure in sex was the best way to cope with everything.

And if you can't, Revenge will always be an option. But what you're asking for is essentially upending the whole format of the series to add a 4th option -NTR, Happy Together, Happy Alone, Revenge- late into development and with the three ending already being built up to through the dialogue options for a long while now

The more that I think about it, the more curious I am about the big reveal of Update 16 and how it could factor into the Revenge ending.

Now, a big part of me feels like it's not particularly likely because it seems a half dozen shades darker in tone than anything N_taii has done up to this point. But my brain just connected those two plot points and I thought it sounded like an interesting possibility compared to the more expected "Leto becomes Ulrod 2.0 and takes them all into his personal harem" path of revenge.

also, for a non-NTR ending to an NTR game... I don't mind that being included at all, because I do think it adds to the ultimate tragedy if there was a slim chance of hope available to the player (in the same way that I find a lot of vanilla H-games dreadfully boring if it's just pure power fantasy with no consequences or dramatic tension of any kind; every victory feels hollow when the game itself is pathologically terrified of having the player lose in a meaningful way).

But it does definitely rub me the wrong way then there is a canon/more official ending that swerves completely out of the game's genre, like with Chapter 2's True ending. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like if there is going to be a True ending to a game like this, it shouldn't completely jettison the NTR at the eleventh hour.

I don't know why, but I have the feeling that this silhouette of that being pretending to be Rose is some ancient entity related to the Shanni tribe, who wants revenge on the people of Noss Roa and the royal family for what the first king of Lumina did to them in the past and it is she who is orchestrating everything from the shadows.

It's certainly possible. N_Taii does have a bad habit of utilizing badly implemented deities to bring about his endings. HC1 had god that was sealed beneath the castle and was completely irrelevant past the opening of the game and claimed that it lured the demons there on purpose to cause Casio to be amenable to his "kill all the gods" plan, but that isn't reflected in the game. Then there's what appears to be the fallen valkyrie who is Celis' true mother, who we get the occasional sighting of as she manipulates Zeno to do her bidding and then betrays him for Noah, but again the reveal of her backstory and her abilities are so backloaded that it once again comes across as not feeling adequately set up. HC3 has not shown a deity, demon, valkyrie, or enemy of any kind outside of the duke... and there's always a chance we get one added very close to the end as we did in HC1 and 2.

Hm, based on the PoL and the comments on it, I'd say the next patreon update arriving before Christmas is not happening, might be pretty late in the month if it releases this month at all.

Yikes. I can only hope that's the result of a decision to not split the beach quest into two separate updates, because the thought of the story lingering there until like early-to-mid February at the earliest is... daunting.

In theory, the update was supposed to be planned to be released at the beginning of the month (most likely between the 1st and the 15th).

But as you say, based on the PoL, the comments and that he has yet to do the survey on the extra scene (if he does) I'm betting the update will arrive by Dec. 20 at the latest

Yeah, which is why I don't think a double update is a good idea. Honestly, I was against the beach update altogether on the off chance that he focuses on Lily and Haylen after it. A fairly carefree section of the game where the girls just fuck a bunch while Leto awkwardly and unknowingly hangs around is great and all, but it delays progression of the main plot. I'm wary of it stretching across two updates because it means that switching to Lily and Haylen next could mean we're looking at a pretty significant delay in the main story progressing. I hate to say it but I kind of hope N_Taii views Lily and Haylen's side stories as largely finished.

Absolutely no way that is happening, the 20th is barely more than 2 weeks from now and N_Taii is still on the second scene of Update17, he needs write and make the remaining story segments, make 2 entire new scenes, add more freeroam-like scenes for Haylen and Lily and then on top of all that he needs to make the extra scene as well. The Update's gonna be released either in-between Christmas and New Year's, or sometime in early January, the sooner you accept it the better.
