I can't access the previous version backups. Do I have to start over again? When I installed the latest version before, it said update, I could continue from the previous version, so this version tried to update.

I had that issue. For some reason, first time it started it wiped all the previous saves. Luckily I had a backup. Was fine once I restored them. You DO have backups, don't you?
