but I can't figure out why the women's dimensions look so weird.
If my telepathy proc was correct, you're complaining about specific sliders set to extremities resulting in relevant body parts becoming insanely stretched, inadequately angled and/or otherwise looking more like graphic artifact rather than a body part.
Game version 0.641 is EXTREMELY picky about specific sliders' values.
Don't set slider values in NPC/enemy configs to above 1 maybe. For some, 1.2 (and 1.5 seldom) might work fine too.
(upd. Sheesh... Now I remember why I've dropped this game in the first place... I grew too damn tired cherry-picking then fixing slider values in outdated mods...)

Yeah, I've lost interest in this again because I was fed up with it. But before I leave it behind me as I did before, here's a fix for a game-crashing bug in DeeperDungeon, along with tweaks to some of the body sliders.

Hey might be a dumb question but I can't find ANY sources taking about this error? Anyone know if there's a mod that fixes it or a patch? Have tried every version since 6.x in this thread and all have errors while trying to read these meshes or image bmps. :confused:

If you're using Linux version (converted by tossing Electron variant for Linux into game's folder and praying a little) with mods - you might need to carefully comb up all mod file contents AND mod subfolders to get rid of case mismatch in file paths.
Or, odds are that you have bumped onto a very common bug where game fails to preload one of its vanilla files. It can be solved by removing one sound-related tag from one file (basically the difference between default 0.641 and "hotfixed" version) - however, I don't remember which, and I can't google it up for you without knowing at which file your load process is stuck.
Googling with that file name and game name should bring up the instruction for fixing.
If no mods were involved, of course.
Few mods listed on Loverslab were made for game version too old, these can throw this error too. No way to solve known to me. That's the third option.

Hahaha! My Bad; It's always (At least in the last stock no mod version of .641) images/clouds1_down.bmp, images/clouds1_east.bmp or meshes/Leathernormal.png and since this used to work perfectly over 5 years ago on the same system Capture1.PNG Capture2.PNG Capture3.PNG

I'd assumed it to be the result of a windows update (using Win 10) or a .net framework or whatever .json and/or klib file decompiler running into this null error being updated since then.

I'll give Electron a shot and see if that helps bypass these and forces Initialization to actually finish and not hang.

Thank you for the suggestions in any case and I'll let you know if that works! No way the patience or time exists to uninstall that many system updates in this lifetime for 1 game. lol

It's unlikely to be related to Win10 updates (unless Microsoft obliviously did something hilariously bad. VERY hilariously bad, like that bug of yesteryear which even caused malfunctions in airports...)
I'm 99% certain that back when I've used Win10 - I got this error here and there.
Besides, latest vanilla version is 0.641fix . Or so Web sez.
Now, if my already-strained Memory can take another dive-into-memories-long-lost today...

Worth trying. Since the game seem to ALSO have significant problems with data it caches and preserves between sessions.
Web sez that it might pop pointing at other files too.

The fix of sound-related file was published at some file dump - and the fixed files are long since gone.
Web sez that needed file AND change can be deduced from comparing versions 0.631 and 0.641 - but I can't find 0.631 anywhere yet.
And my Memory is still refusing to provide any additional details :(

Uh.. So dumb question.. Not seeing any answer for "party stats", but I people talking about raising their stats.. How do you do that? Also from the OP images looks like you can give equipment, or is that not a thing in the game when it was abandoned?

If my Memory serves me right, you can select your party members somehow when you have inventory/stats screen open in this thread's latest version (and starting from 0.6 update).
There you can assign equipment and increase their stats as you wish.
(don't equip your whole crew with coomer wands. Just don't. This composition fails even on starter levels)
I don't have a usable copy of the game at hand - can anyone please lend a hand and remind us how it's done?

Overwrite
[game's folder]/data/_base/_FilesToLoad.json
with the file from attachment. That's assumed 0.641fix update file.
Due to some very mysterious processes in developer's brain in game code, this obvliously sound specific addition is supposed to fix most popular failures to load some textures. And, oddly enough, it DOES!

While in the bedroom, city or otherwise non-combat location, initiate the dialogue with your follower then ask "Show me your equipment".
Switch to inventory or characteristics tabs as necessary, customize as you like.
Skillbooks and potions are supported.

BTW sad news: can't make Linux version out of Win version by just slamming Linux version of Electron into game's folder. Not on Ubuntu 25.04 at least. Some bullshittery from Canonical doesn't allow run 3D applications through Electron anymore.
Sheesh.
One step closer to... *shudder* SteamOS...

Can someone explain to me how the capture mechanic actually works in this game? Like do I have to carry all of the enemies I want to capture to the exit portal or is that not required?

You have to: Knock out enemy > Strip enemy > Grab and fuck enemy to orgasm; then there's a chance that enemy will be a prisoner at the 'dungeons' portal.

After capture, you go to the prison and do the process again, with a chance for them to be converted to follower.

Ah I see, I didn't realize it was a chance and thought it would happen every time.

Random question: what is the difference between naturally-spawned dungeon mobs and console-command-spawned ones, if any?

I fiddled around with the Bandit Queen by making her a futa (directly edited compiled.js to add a custom moveset, give BQ a penis, and assign the moveset to her) - something I did waaaaay back in 0.621, by the way -, and the problem I ran into is that the Bandit Camp version of BQ works fine, but a wild one I spawn via cheats/commands is still female for some reason.

And another 0.641 thing: when BQ (and Ludas) jump to grab one of the girls, if my units are bunched up, he/she grabs the target and knocks others nearby back/down - what is that effect coming from? Because I am looking at 0.621 behavior and the jump grab has no such effect.

UPD: scratch the futa part, works now - "not sure what I did but it worked" moment there.

Is there a way to simply disable the spanking content in Heroine Rescue Team? Not a fan of spanking for NSFW animations in stuff.
