Ren'Py - Abandoned - Hero's Harem Guild [v0.1.2.3b Public] [Komisari]

This is like the first game I have reviewed on here and it's amazing so far. Every character is great and the game really does seem to hit that sweet spot of providing the story that happens to have sex in it. Nothing feels too convoluted and full of dumb dialogue fluff like other games. Cannot wait for future updates!

Amount of content
Not much, honestly it's tremendously bloated in terms of filesize sure but in terms of actual content there are some short scenes and a really slow gameplay loop with a ton of grinding but not much else.

"Gameplay" - aka: mindless repetitive clicking
Basically you just hunt down the location of specific characters at specific times of day and hang out a LOT until you "progress" aka:get a really short scene that typically doesn't have any excuse for requiring the grind, and fishing/mining(the fishing minigame is not fun but provides way more money quicker than bothering with the guild at all, mining just isn't worth bothering with aside from collecting a material that you have no other way of getting).

honestly I like them quite a lot aside from the MC and the male monsters, and feel that it's the ONLY consistently good part of this game

Story writing/world building
bad from beginning to end but consistently gets worse as the game goes on. Basically a good slice of life pretending to be an epic tale in the making but failing miserably at it. The home of the "inept" mary sue heir to a family line of "heroes"(completely arbitrary label the creator decided to vilify all members of, in order to have to have conflict without putting in any effort, (initially implied to mean master martial artists that assume the role of guardians, so basically champions, that sometimes become defacto rulers due to the dangerous setting, but nope actually heroes are just arrogant old men in they're position thanks to racism/sexism and can be easily foregone/supplemented by any male human.) gets targeted by a demon due the mc's heritage, but the mc isn't home so the fight betwean the rest of the inhabitants and the demon gets drawn out to a cliffside where the mc shows up to try to save them as a result he falls off the side and wakes up at the feet of his would be enslavers which promptly beat him up but he gets saved by the town tinkerer due to her interest in the fact that he had equipment that showed signs of having been used to fight a demon and desire to have a new hero and to re-establish the guild, then the mc spends a lot of time piecing together the guild something incredibly easy to do, and fishing a LOT to save up money to fund the establishment of the guild it takes barely any money, and enough to get home, eventually the people of the town he ended up in get attached to him and get offended that he dares still want to return to his family despite him from the beginning making it clear that his only real goal was to get home he'd help out if he could in the mean time in order to not be a burden and to mutually benefit but he had no intent to stay especially since he was clearly not needed there but as he's about to leave it turns out there's no need his family was coincidentally moving to where he is now because they were forced to leave by the hero further vilifying the hero label and avoiding having to deal with the only real conflict present so far what happens when the time comes for the mc to leave, nothing because he doesn't actually leave.

character writing
cute models and cute interactions plus random out of nowhere sexual interest towards the mc that makes no sense, is basically what you'll see anytime the game isn't trying to add depth to the characters or to the narrative unfortanately when it does try it devolves into shallow tropes crammed into a not very well thought out setting, with no development aside from suddenly out of nowhere a conflict occurs and then it gets resolved in a terribly lazy way that does nothing good for the characters writingwise or it turns out they were just misunderstood and the reality is their not really as their behavior implied thanks to retconning via flashbacks or sudden shifts and character writing that just don't fit with what happenned in earlier segments of the game. (Example of suddenly conflict: a harem member turns out to be inexplicably racist because she calls a character that's messing with her what she typically refers to herself as, the protagonist beats her and tells her she's bad and deserves to be treated badly for repeating what the other girl always says, getting beaten inexplicably turns this girl into a sex addict for the sake of allowing the mc to display his moral superiority by denying her sex, eventually he gets horny and decides to reward her for being a good girl for basically being what she's normally like and at the same time she suddenly becomes sex crazed again in order for his mentality to come off as less deranged and messed up, honestly she should've left already at that point and if she was so desperate been with someone else instead, since aside from the elf which is weird not common relationship to say the least non of them are in a relationship that denotes any kind of exclusivity or right to sex with for thte mc. Other characters tend to just need finding but no one else ever puts in any effort)

Overall opinion:
A lot of potential just done in the laziest way possible writing wise constantly feeling like it's designed to appeal to kids instead attempting to be good/coherent lots of drama/conflict for no reason other than to have it exist, mechanically not good, a game this small should not take up anywhere near the filsize that it does even taking into account the graphics.

Also, having spent the time writing this review, I feel in hindsight, the creator should've just made jimmy the new fake hero that's just assuming the title for the sake of being able to organize the town better and have him getting used to his new role and when the mc is found then have the mc live as a fisherman trying to get home that befriends the guild maybe have them stay at the guild anyway as a guest that just helps out as a way of repaying the favor towards the newly forming guild instead of having them shoehorned into a position of power, then maybe later the mc makes a name for themselves and becomes a hero on their own merit, not becoming the official guild leader but maybe something like the new town ruler that displaces the current one if she doesn't change her ways(based on her initial personality) or supplements the current(one based on her personality as it is shown in later portions of the game) or just becoming a respected figure forming his guild harem without also becoming their direct boss(would eliminate the need for politics), the relationships he has with most of the other characters would make a lot more sense that way and be much healthier too. It'd remove a lot of the more major issues without really harming the narrative in any way aside from maybe the current ruler being such a bitch towards him early on but let's be honest that wasn't the result of him being the hero since he wasn't yet that when she beat/harassed him and tried to basically make him her slave upon their first meeting, him being a hero was just the only reason he became an untouchable since he had the tinkerer's protection, it was pure xenophobia that motivated her, that's also the main reason for the rest of the town not trusting the new unknown hero, and the guild's reason for the only real fight the mc had with the rest of the cast, he wanted to go look after his family since he knew they needed him and the new town didn't at all, but the harem was outraged because they felt he should abandon his family since they were strangers anyway.

Loved the game!
Cute characters (absolutely adored Lucy), nice models and interesting gameplay (not the usual graphic novel, it adds an rpg element which I find really appealing).
I look forward to seeing all further developments.

There is only one thing you need to do when playing this game: turn off the logical side of your brain. Turn it all off, don't - DON'T YOU DARE EVEN THINK ABOUT IT - then maybe you'll survive long enough to actually fap at the girls. Or you'll be too busy combating high blood pressure or cardiac arrest due to the sheer STUPIDITY that is the writing. It is so bad that I cannot in good conscience give it more than 3 stars even though I admittedly did have a good time.

I thought that this was an amazing start to what will hopefully continue being an amazing game. The graphics were great for the art style. The story while a little familiar was different enough to draw you in. Honestly the only thing I would consider a negative is the grammar. It is obvious the author is not a native English speaker but it was not a bad attempt and lets be honest we have all seen far far worse. I think that if he gets some people to help him proof read it would clear that issue up.

I decided to pick this up on a whim, 0.1.1 version. Wasn't expecting much going in but damn if I didn't have a lot of fun with it! And again this is still the 0.1.1 version, there's still much more to come and I can't wait to see what else is stored for the future! As for negatives, there's a fair amount of broken english, but it's nothing that breaks the deal for me.

I see why people review this game higher, the girls are cute and the writing is decent, if you can get over the broken english and so-so phrasing.

The gameplay is way above avarage, but that's because most games here are strait out horrible. The characterization is very well done, way better than most games here. The art style is really cute, I love it.

But IMHO the game is not hot enough to overlook the story's shortcomings, which are many. Rushed, stupid, not well thought out, nonsensical.

It's also the worst medieval hero's journey cliche, where you are, despite obvious incompetency, the best at everything ever™.

Still, I'll keep an eye on this one and report back if I do change my mind. In all honesty I didn't get far into the game ... because I don't particularly like it.

Easily one of the best games I've played. Never expected this much content for v0.1.1. Played for 12-14 hours (Reading all texts)

+ The artwork is awesome
+ Different girls with different story and behaviours and more girls coming in each future updates!
+ The animations are amazing
+ 2 mini-games which I enjoyed
+ Interesting plot involving magic, demons etc .. Some very heart-warming scenes which I absolutely loved. There are some elements of humour as well + In-built gallery to view all unlocked scenes

- A little bit of grind but it's tolerable.
- Some minor ingrish here and there but I don't mind

The dev is also super-friendly and very open to feedback and suggestions <3

Usually I'm not super into this Illusion created stuff and saw the version 0.1.1 release and thought just give it a try.

Again, 0.1.1, so initial release with an update. Alost 7 GB! A RenPy game. 7 GB in version 0.1.1. Are you shitting me? And it's not some disguised chinese underground porn or so, it's the game or let's say the VN with gameplay mechanics (grind stuff).

So many little details and references in this VN, I think I , missed a plenty of but the epic handshake, just epic. Jimmy eating his ice under the bucket and not through it, nice.

Story? So far so good. Strange mix of idk. Can't describe. Had a similar JP VN with strange Ninja Girls, feeling the same vibes.

No mindless bang hussies. In fact, you have to grind hard to bang. But, it doesn't matter, you will keep entertained the whole time.

This game is pretty long. Not because of the grind, it's the story. Almost everything is animated and well crafted.

Not a typical review, you need to try this! If this keeps updated in this quality, finished game could be end up having 60 petabytes of data.

Only downer is the grind, but really, you will not care.

Please Dev, don't add any loot boxes, supply drops or battle passes! Thanks.

This game is really really lovely. Though i'm pretty sure the characters and animations are from Koikatu (making the whole process alot easier i would imagine) The story is just so great and wholesome, with excellent pacing and so far no notable grind. I'm very often getting infatuated with one character, only to get sidetracked with another great character. The jokes are really good, and some had me dying laughing. The game is just so wholesome, i really recommend it!

i'm reviewing [v0.1.1]

first off all i wanna say that there is already a lot of content in this game even though it's still really early i personally played this game for 2 days about 5 hours per day so in the 10 hours or so lenght

anyway i really like the story and the characters in this game it actually feels like you are watching an anime in 3D with porn as a game every character is well designed and well realised the dialoge is really fun and good the story is nice and atleast pulled me in almost immediately

this really is the start of an amazing porn game it has all the elements to be one of the best good story amazing characters great dialoge nice sex scenes though not amazing they are good enough nice story progression like i said amazing dialoge i actually look forward to the next interaction between characters few games pull it off so well

also if you are like me and won't play porn games to early because you are afraid that it will just leave you horny and blue balled don't worry even though the game is still very early in development there are a lot of sex scenes already that will most likely leave you satisfied

anyway even though the game is still early in development the game already has a solid base that is well worth playing already nice story could be great later on awesome characters that you actually want to interact with great dialoge decent sex scenes good length already great character development has music so that's a plus

honestly the only thing i want to see improved call me selfish if you want are the sex scenes while everything else is great if not amazing this is atleast in my eyes still a porn game at heart now don't get me wrong they aren't bad at all but they could be better in my opinion there where a few sex scenes that just didn't do it for me also while the blowjob's are hot yes blowjob's are my biggest fetish i just wish that they had more impact and that they would take the mc's dick deeper but hey that could still happen

overal while it isn't perfect it's still an amazing start and i can't wait to see what the developer is gonna do next so for me this is a solid [4/5]

- The Hero doesn't do much hero work but I'm here for sex anyway.
- There is some grinding but you can hold ctrl to make it go faster, Considering the size of cast you are still getting a new scene everyday.
- There are repeatable freeroam events but they are mostly hangouts, I would like more sexual events.

cant rate any higher great game if you like harem hotel this is right up your alley, comedy, love emotion it has so much and not a grind fest at all.
only wish it was longer but gotta wait for that juice. Well worth a full playthrough and not getting a save file

Really really high quality Ren'Py game. The UI is great, very easy to navigate. I never had a moment of "That's pretty janky". The minigames (fishing in particular) can be a little tedious, but not that bad. Some of the environments, definitely need a little work, the market area feels pretty blank, but I think that's a deliberate design choice inline with the story. Where this game really shines is the writing. The comedy between both the lines and the visual gags make this game very entertaining (Jimmy is my favorite character). Overall I really look forward to where this game goes as it has a pretty decent amount of content for only having been available for 6 months.

Had some issues with the game before the patch so remember to install that one. (I didn't)

Theres plenty of content with it just being a 0.1.1 beta release and most of it is well written, the characters have varying personalities and i don't really have much to complain about, if you're looking for an anime-style-harem-game then this might be for you.

Its a pretty cute game with good characters

The characters are all pretty well designed and I ended up actually caring about what happens to them the writing is quite nice it can be cute and funny at times.

The girls are being designed with backstories and actual character traits/personalities, instead of just being mindless sexmonkeys this automatically makes it better than 90% of porn games.
The story and setting are pretty simplistic but it's interesting enough to maintain your attention

The game could be more clear on what to actually do and the progression could be less tedious but none of these flaws really ruin the experience

oh and the actual porn aspect is nice, cute character models simple scenes with the personality of the girls

Overall this game does a really great job of balancing story, comedy and some quality sex scenes. Everything feels earned without being too repetitive, although I do believe that earning money should be just a smidge easier. With time this game will continue to grow, and I hope that with every new character you add, you still keep everything semi grounded. Shit got a little all over the place at the end of v0.1.1. However I have faith that this will be a quality game!

It's a beta and there are a few rough edges but even what there is available is quite a bit. You can certainly feel the attention and love that the developer has been putting into this game. It's already very worth playing. Once it gets a few more patches and updates people aren't going to be able to pass it by.

Very cute characters, OKAY animations, built in gallery. Generally the built in guide is clear enough to get through the game. I'm tempted to rate it 4 stars because it does contain some unnecessary grinding, but it doesn't seem too excessive because there are a lot of scenes (not all adult oriented however) between the significant amount of grinding. Another negative is accessing certain rooms in the house requires several seconds of scrolling, which is kind of annoying considering you're having to visit lots of room lots of times to complete the grind. Still much higher quality than average on here.

This is the first game I'm reviewing, after having lurked around and tried many games, and I can say this is the one that's got me the most interested. There's been games where I'd skip dialogue to get to the juicy stuff, where it didn't feel like there was a lot of heart and soul behind the project and it was just an excuse to fap. Not with this one. This game definitely feels like the developer has put his heart and soul into it, there is so much attention to details, the music and characters are enjoyable, have a personality that's interesting, and it made me want to read every line of dialogue, which was rewarded with laughs at genuinely funny moments.

I can't wait to see how far this game can go, I think this is a gem in the making and it can stand out as one of the very best games out there in that genre.
