If you downloaded the game from this site you don't need to install the H-patch, it is already there.

I got an actual completed file, but that one is pointless as it just goes to the last map and still locks out all scenes without this EVS File.

But if you want to true ending, you must recruit every character before facing the Demon Lord.
You can take as long as you want until you face the Demon Lord.
