It's a bug, I will fix it tomorrow when I'm able to replicate it.
It's caused by changes related to this new feature:

• The old posing interface (where you can zoom in/out and can ask the girl to turn left or right) has been upgraded to support better conversations between the characters. The MC can answer now, same as he already can with the new posing interface. -> will be part of 0.4.5.0

In the meantime, before the crash, open the console and type this:
l_who1 = char1.fname
This should prevent the crash.

It looks like it changed something but now I'm gettting this error. I'll wait for the bugfix lol.

So i'm playing the intro, and based on what "Joy" has said so far, the premise of the game is (someone please tell me if I'm wrong):
- The MC wins a lottery to go to an island resort filled with 'the world's best supermodels and high-class escorts'
In other words, every woman is paid to be there and be into the MC? I mean.... that's more realistic than any other harem game I've ever encountered, but it's also a little... meh. Certainly not deserving of the Dating Sim tag (since it can hardly be called a date if you've already paid for the services you expect).

You're not PAYING anyone. You won and you get to spend time and eventually have sex with multiple women. That is the premise.

I will venmo somebody $10 to step by step walk me through how to apply the bug fix on a Mac. I'm not tech savy. The instructions for the game fix say delete the persistent files in the "Saves" folder... well I have no earthly idea what a persistent file is or what it looks like and I've looked all through the various game folders and there is no "saves" folder. Help.

Holiday Island 0.4.5.0 has been released

Hello guys and gals,

pre beta testing for 0.4.5.0 has been finished and the new version is available for everyone now.
The update from 0.4.1.0 to 0.4.5.0 has 738 new renders, videos and sound files, 443 updated renders and 8 new backgrounds for the new phone.

All of the new stuff is in "webp" format and at least 2560x1440 resolution, which reduces space and increases image quality at the same time.

Save games from 0.0.8 alpha and later versions should still be working. Older saves are no longer supported.
!!!!! This is a new full version !!!!!
Please download the full 0.4.5.0 from these links (they are also on the main page):

Please extract the files into a new folder! Do not overwrite the existing game folder from an older version!
For all of you that get crashes as soon as you click on preferences or load, please manually add an empty text file in the HI sub folder "game".
Name the file: "use_fixed_resolution_720.txt"

What it will do is the following:
It will remove the resolution options and also the auto window scaling. After you have applied the patch, you will also be able to manually scale the game window again (e.g. maximizing it).

Thank you for the time and effort put into this. The game has evolved quite nicely between the graphics, interactions, and story lines. Look forward to this update and those yet to come. Have a nice summer vacation, DH!

There's this thing in the game called a phone. If you hover your mouse over the placeholder for the scene (providing hints and requirements are turned on) it tells you.

OK... Darkhound will rush a poorly written ending like other devs have done, something like you have run out of days on the island, and you go home.... the END.
This will get more criticism, as these people are never pleased no matter what you do.

Then move on to a new game called "Amy's Adventure" all about Amy and her life... OK, that bit is a wishful thinking on my behalf

If you don't like the game, that is fine, everyone has their own views and taste.
But the game is not going to change due to your comments, or that you want it to have a kink, or fetish that you want, but most will not like.
So why not spend the time looking around and finding something you do like, instead of pointless rubbish comments which only fuel people like me to trash on your lack of intellect

Anyway... I will go back to playing a game I like

The comment to start making another game is bizarre to me. Like, yeah, I want Darkhound to make a game about Yumiko. After her time on the island where she returns to regular society and realizes that when she's not surrounded by supermodels, she has legendary self-confidence. So she just chases her dreams and meets a new MC. I'm getting off topic, but what I mean to say is why ask someone to just stop developing a project and not even giving a cohesive reason.

I come back to this game once or twice a year with the new update, so I'm working on that now. The increased resolution on a lot of pictures looks fantastic. I notice it especially when looking through mesh clothing. It's really great to have Jennifer around more and I'm looking forward to seeing what Yumiko is up to in her off hours once she arrives on my island.

Yes. I'm very well aware this "community" is full of dick riders for a dev who makes minimal content updates once every 9 months. Compared to his pre 2020 where he made the same amount of content in 3-4 months. Regardless. My point still stands.

But smart-assery aside, the best thing to do is simply read the companion guide carefully and make sure all the triggers/conditions for the event are actually met. Apart from that, all you can do is hack/cheat/mod. Which is probably a bad idea.

Reminder that we operate in a mostly capitalist world and the best way to express your opinion about products is money. Withhold money if you're unhappy. Spend money when you want to encourage someone to continue their work. If you don't have money to spare, that's understandable and there's a lot of free content, but criticizing their business plan is most effective through monetary means.
