The no idea is a number of things,
It reflects a good habit
Do not promise things you are not certain of.
It handles expectations
Better let people wait than to create expectations locked to a certain date.
The updated task list is sufficient to give an impression of content & progress.
It accurately describes the process
Each version is,
- Created (Renders, code, writing, unit testing)
- The vast majority of time is spent here, so when this completes, things move fast.
- Beta testing (trusted persons)
- Released (to public)
In order to give a good estimate you at least need to pass the unit test and be read for the beta testing.
Were are we?
We are clearly at the very end of the "Created" stage.
Is this time slower than normal?
Release wise yes, but the update has snowballed into :
658 additional renders, videos or sound files & 54 updated renders
So what is happening is, we getting the combined result of 2 normal releases rolled into one giant release and on top, new quest logic. Thus the leap to 2.0 (milestone) instead of 1.9.2 (normal).
Why a giant release?
Seems to be a product of the quest system and quest chains introduced.
Their respective content is logically cohesive, so they require a lot of renders, story and work that must be released together. This leads to fewer and larger releases in the periods were it is the focus.
