dunno where the heck did you get that the game has no replayability it is replayable as hell and even has systems supporting NG+ and the like, there are also many choices in the game that can differ one playthrough from another. As for the defeat situations, yes most of the H scenes are defeat related 30-60% maybe but a lot of them can also be initiated NORMALLY by just having the right costume/stats.

It should be quite simple to use. Install that and run the game by right clicking the game exe. If the top bar shows moonrunes instead of random gibberish you should be good to go and this should not have the same issues I think.
It's either this or winrar changing the moonrunes on the files to random gibberish.

As in, should I occasionally go to places even though there is no red marker? I assume it is for the main story. Or should I try to finish the main story first?

To what I gathered, considering you can get the Sister costume from her freely, the implication of costume provides you pass to investigate the Church's underground complex. Some people pointed out that you can get the Sister costume from a Bunny Girl that resides in a resident house south of Gald, which is probably a failsafe in case you didn't get the costume from Mary before she becomes infected.
I assume the point of no return on this is once you finish the forest search. I do assume it's a short case instance that can easily be missed. It's a long time I've since played the game and posted the costume procurement steps here.
Anyone mind telling me where the slum is? I seem to have played through the game without ever visiting this area... twice

Well if anyone else is curious, you just have to go to castle town, talk to the soldier in front of the goddess statue, with either the samurai or ninja costume. then talk to the guy barring you from entering the stairs leading underground in the auction house. Therein you should find a guy with an exclamation mark over his head where you can buy the skull key from him for 10,000 gold.
Now that you have the skull key, you gain access to the slums, which you can get to by going to the fortress and finding the door that has a skull floating above it, which leads to the slums.
