Right, but those are external factors or modifications, without those the engine is very limited.

If you get the game from this site, all those mods are included so no real excuse to not use them. Using external tools definitely takes a different skill-set though and one that'd probably be better suited to just using blender.

Koi is nice because it's fairly easy, also the models look consistent. Don't have to rely on stuff ripped from other sources that don't always mesh right or learning to make your own models. Yeah you can make good stuff with koi but even when you know all the tools available to you, it's still limited compared to other programs out there.
