Here is my thoughts on the matter:
While it is obviously a similar setup and characters, i do believe it could be done in a different (better?) way than the original BB, that while had a lot of story, images and scenes, BB was plagued with a extensive grind, an hilariously bad NTR and was a bit vanilla overall, not counting how much time it took to get to the the good scenes and the absence of "after" for the story.
The cartoonish look, i actually don't mind, it try to look different (and look rather nice), also it is an easier way to render, so it's bit less of a headache to do. Which usually mean faster dev times and/or more content per update.
That being said, attempting to remake a better, stronger story of a previously well known and popular game is quite a high challenge, that will require you to truly extend this story beyond what BB was.
As far as i know, you didn't posted any lewds games before (unless i'm mistaken) so people don't know you and what you can do, how good you are in general and if you will respect timelines and such. So you will have to prove yourself, to put it bluntly.
If i may suggest,
You have to balance out the grind. Even getting rid of it entirely or simplifying it by a large margin would be greatly beneficial, since most lewds games with grind does it to "add" more time to the game, but in a dull, repetitive way that isn't interesting.
Eric is gone, as you mentioned, so that is a very good thing.
If you truly want to do something that most lewds games fail to do, is a good progressive game that not only extend to the "climax" of the game, but beyond it. Most games is something like this: Begin as a small shit or something -- slowly and steadily corrupt/seduce/charm the characters -- get a few scenes (usually, some tease, maybe dance, then some HJ, then maybe a boobjob, then a blowjob, then some foreplay, etc...) progressively. -- The "Climax" of the game then is usually the fucking by itself. Then story usually tend to stop there. Also, there is at least some drama in there somewhere.
So if you want a genuinely better and more unique story, add more stuff for after the previously mentioned climax: Tease -- HJ -- BJ -- foreplay -- sex. THEN, add more "advanced" stuff, such as trips, fetishes, various degrees of more lewd scenes, such as threesomes, relationships, BDSM, etc...
A good example of this is the game "The Twist", which has an extensive story, a LOT of scenes, a LOT of content, but all in a very progressive way with seemingly no end. The climax of the game (and thus, the story) doesn't end bluntly when you finally have sex. It expand so much further beyond that.
Finally, you MUST design the game to minimize the need for a walkthrough. Hints system given in the game and in dialogue (Summertime Saga or Man of the House are very good with this), clear explanations of what choices does what, etc...
For me, HAVING to follow a walkthrough to gain the necessary "points" so you can get to next scenes is a very bad way to make the game. Might as well just make it a linear story, if any choices simply either make you progress, or lose points (or game over...), which then mean you can't do the stuff you want. It's a flawed system, so don't do this.
That's pretty much it... I think it's fair to give you a chance at truly making a new, refreshing story.
