Thanks for widening my Horizon though

The slight blurriness was my design choice. I felt the sharper the images made it too easy to spot inconsistencies especially in the eyes. (Not to mention Hires fix messing with the eyes a LOT generating different eye styles). I am using a Pony model.I’m not an AI hater, I actually do AI art myself, and I have to say the arts are just not good enough. You need to bring sharper, cleaner images to the game. That determines the first impression people will have towards your game, not your writing or plot. For now these arts you have looks very blurry and low-res. I won’t even criticize your art style (but pls do try xl models like ponyxl if you can, I presume you’re still on sd1.5 based models, stop that they’re terrible now). Because the low-res images, especially the character sprites, is already unbearable for me. I can barely see the expressions on MC. The original resolution is probably something like 1280x720, and you scaled them further down to 800x600 as sprite, or stretch them to 1080p as cg, it just doesn’t work. You’d be better off making the cgs with koikatsu or something if you can’t get nice and sharp images. The background images are also bad, maybe just give up on pure t2i for these, you can find some photos or rendering and do i2i, more controllable, better quality.
The overall impression of MC sprite feels weird for a neet, also MC design looks boring to me, way too simple. But I kinda get it, it would be extremely hard to get complicated elements while maintaining consistency for the character if you’re using AI. Like the dragon girl missing her horn in sex scene. Speaking of consistency I guess you’re using inpaint on the whole image or just i2i to do differences in cg. It is slow and might break the consistency in some scene. The white flash when cumming did cover it but still… Try chopping the image and do them separately, you can draw something on it to hint the AI and get what you want, doesn’t really need any drawing skill.
Anyway that’s enough of my criticism. Those are actually common mutual problems in ai cg games, only a tiny few of them got this right by my standard. I’ve been think about making an ai cg VN for a while too, but never come up with any idea that can be expanded into a full game. And I’ll have a hard time trying to meet my goal too. So don’t feel too bad over my opinion, and don’t lose your motivation here, as you said you’re just beginning. I do admire your efforts, and I love the chibi variants of characters.
While AI currently CAN do animations it's only at very low resolutions 512x768 max iirc and it has to be SD model which since I'm using a Pony one it doesn't exist. There will be more different scenes in one setting in the future as she gains more "stamina" if you will.Like the idea, and the girls are really attractive. Feedback on the scenes would be to either make animations...which i don't know if it can be done with AI, or make more pictures per scene. Longer is better, but we need more than one picture to keep us interested in longer dialogue.

If the blurriness is to avoid inconsistency, maybe you can try to pixelate the image instead of blur it. I think it will look better, Damn That’s Felicia here does that and looks clean to me. You can even generate the picture with prompts or loras with pixel art concept, the xl models now can do that nicely. The inconsistency in eyes shouldn’t be the biggest problem, they can be very different in anime after all and can be more or less fixed with prompts. Hairstyle(bangs) changes are easier to spot here, they shouldn’t change but can easily get different when you‘re making expression differences. The slight blurriness was my design choice. Backgrounds are definitely a sore spot, some of them are i2i but I wanted to keep the "bad look" consistent as to not break immersion.
MC design is simple to be able to see her body "change" as for the sprites, that's a tougher subject. The sprites at 800x600 already take too much space I feel (Have experimented with diff sprite sizes).
For the sex scene I am only inpainting a small area not the entire image to maintain consistency. Even this had flaws for example, the first hj scene I accidentally inpainted a bit too left and the result extended her cleavage so I do an A B comparison every time to make sure nothing REALLY changed.
While I think art IS important, I find that decent art mixed with a good story makes it even better. Or else why bother reading a VN and just go on pixiv etc or generate stuff yourself.
Here's my 2 cents, when making a game you need to look at the whole picture not just only certain aspects. You can have the best art in the world but if your story is absolute garbage your game is just going to get unren'd and they can just go for the images. If the game devs on this site are like me, the reason why things "look" a certain way is by design not due to error.
That being said, thank you for your criticism and I hope to see your VN on this site!
I really don't like the pixel aesthetics so I doubt I will go that route. The fact the eyes immediately bothered me means it was a problem generation wise and aesthetic wise it just isn't the look I was going for (a LOT of visual artifact differences). If the blurriness is to avoid inconsistency, maybe you can try to pixelate the image instead of blur it. The MC growth… I absolutely love the concept of growing as we progress, and yeah it will be tough. You say they‘re taking too much space, do you mean like space on screen or file size? If you’re talking about the size on screen you can change it with codes, you probably already know that as I’ve seen MC sprite be brought closer in game. Nearly full body sprite taking only 800x600 and you even need to bring her closer sometime in game. It’s really not enough. The character sprites are not exactly on the same canvas, some of them are bigger, above crotch, MC sprite is smaller, above knees. So I think it should be better to at least give MC a higher resolution sprite. The higher resolution it has, the more room there will be for you to play with. If you're talking about file size, then I don't know what to do about it either. I put a 5120x3072 full body image as sprite when I was testing with renpy. I can zoom the sprite however I want. But that one image alone is like 7mb. I guess that's not the right way to do it. But some 720p images shouldn't be a big file size problem.
Sex scenes, as I've said you can chop that area where you want to add something down, to a smaller picture, draw it manually, then do the inpaint. Better to do this with masks, draw the mask in some photo editing software manually too and get more precise inpaint area. You can get faster generations and less inconsistencies.
And besides, cooking needs time and focus.I really don't like the pixel aesthetics so I doubt I will go that route. The fact the eyes immediately bothered me means it was a problem generation wise and aesthetic wise it just isn't the look I was going for (a LOT of visual artifact differences).
What I mean is visual space of how much a sprite takes up the screen. 600x800 to me is a sweet spot. The inconsistencies on the NPCs sprites was supposed to be intentional. The knee up sprites were considered main love interests and the larger ones crotch high were considered side interests. Though if I rework sprites in the future I might just make them all similar.
I will try it out sometime, but I don't have much consistency issues in sex scenes just yet. I likely will, as I add more character or more complicated scenes.
Like I've said, the way I'm doing things and way things look are intentional, I'm unlikely to change the style from chapter to chapter. What I have in mind for this project was considered before I released this version on F95 so while I appreciate your input, let me cook.
Thank you for your kind words. I'll write something about her dispelling her wings/horns for h scenes for consistency (likely from the first scene so you probably won't see it unless you play from the start). My honest thoughts: I like the game so far. I'm not an artist, AI or otherwise, so I can't comment on the fine details. But the art seemed at least pretty good. And you're up front about using AI art, which is also good. Some devs are not, other than using the tag, so it seems like they're being dishonest? The one criticism I have, I suppose, is that Sierra's character image is drawn with dragonlike features, like the horns and wings, but this is not reflected in the h scene art. The inconsistency there kind of breaks the immersion.
As far as the writing goes, I love it. It's definitely not taking itself seriously, and it's fun to spot all the meme references. The crack at patreon-locked content was great. I see so many that use AI to put out a bunch of shovelware cash grabs, and link to a Patreon after the barest whisper of content...then abandon the game before it gets any substance, and move onto another. This definitely doesn't seem like that.
Overall, I look forward to seeing more, and hope that the negative ones (like those that slam it just for the AI art, when that tag is easily filtered out) don't discourage you in the future.
Yeah this is your work after all. I sure hope my advice can help but if you have other ideas, just ignore my nonsense and go for them! My opinion is just my opinion, nothing more. Would love to see more content from you!I really don't like the pixel aesthetics so I doubt I will go that route. I'm assuming it kinda looks like "lo-fi girl" unless you mean something else entirely.I really like the art so far. The first pic, where the MC sits in front of the PC really reminds me of something. But I cannot really say which picture.
It`s in one of the Hyprland wallpaper repositories I tried outI'm assuming it kinda looks like "lo-fi girl" unless you mean something else entirely.
