But I just find it funny how you're most likely not supporting the developer and have the audacity to act entitled to not putting in anything at the start.
I myself am a writer, and I'll probably have a project soon with him for an eroge.
However, while I agree that the nuances in the main characters speech can be a bit annoying; they are currently necessary to avoid the developers patreon getting nuked.
Look at the ages of the characters in game, the global average age of consent is roughly 16.3; but the developer hides Zoe's age... why? If he puts 16 which she most likely is or even 17... Patreon will say she is depicted as a minor and delete his content or and page.
It is much better for him to do things as he is doing now.
Summertimesaga developer darkcookie is doing this and he gets 70k a month. He has said that the script has 2 versions written and upon completing the game all the incest and other such script will take over the current one. Why? Cause he isn't needlessly going to risk losing his livelihood over people not wanting to deal with a couple nuances.

I wrote this ages ago because while playing this I ran into numerous inconsistencies with the relationships you defined at the beginning, the unnatural dialog between so called family members. In my opinion its better to just leave out the incest then to add titles that the script ignores anyway.
My main problem isn't the time it takes to write relationships, its the fact that the rest of the story now doesn't make any sense. Where this game suffers is that now interactions between certain characters will now appear unnatural. My dislike of defining of relationships in no way reflects how I feel about the creator of this game or his ability to write and whether I'm supporting him financially is irrelevant when critiquing his creation.
I agree with you it's unfair patreon makes people jump through hurdles that are unnecessary, everyone should be allowed to make anything they want without having their right to free speech encroached upon. I hear subscribestar is really good but unfortunately don't allow paypal.
I understand it takes significantly longer to make a patch, I was only stating my preference for this method, although I could have chosen better words, it is still MY preference. Not a sleight against you or anyone else who prefers THAT method.

That aside, let me correct a tiny mistake; since you apparently, unlike him (who actually responded appropriately) failed to see the point behind my post.
His complaints are irrelevant as he is (most likely) not supporting the developer and thus, the developer would never care what he has to say about the writing.
Furthermore, invalidated by the fact that Patreon added retarded TOS that greatly restricted sex-game production including more extreme or taboo fetishes.

But the issue is if you don't give that option of renaming etc; you'll lose followers since incest is generally a big fetish. (Look at pornhub statistics, family fantasy is still to this day one of the biggest searches/view time on the site.
Patreon banning anything like it fucking ruined developers so the healthiest balance between making Patreon and the fans happy is the renaming method. Without it, the developer has to create patches which don't always work or take up his time if he is a poor coder.
This developer is now making enough for himself; but not enough to live off of and hire programmers etc.
Honestly, pixiv fanbox would be good but then uncensored shit would get banned since Japan has stupid censorship laws.
What roles did you define and what version did you play?
What happens is that my initial intention was to make a game where you live with your sister and mother. Patreon then started to go after games with incest and I decided to write the whole text in a vague way, so that each player could interpret what he wanted. That didn't please the players, so I added the role option first, but I didn't change the main text so until the penultimate version, the roles were relatively irrelevant.
In the last version I modified a good part of the text so that the roles are more used by the characters. I personally write sister and mom, and for me the story makes sense. However, depending on the roles that the player will choose, it will probably suck.
I didn't actually decide to do a pseudo-incest story because I wanted more patrons or something. What happened was bad timing. When the ban on incest came, I already had the idea of HS Tutor all in mind, and I didn't want to change the core of the game, which is living with a teacher and her curious and naughty daughter, and having to resist seduction by "censored" motives.
I then tried to tell the story in a vague way so that the players could interpret what they wanted, but that did not please the players. If you read the comments on the first pages of this topic, you will see a lot of people confused about what the relationship is between the protagonist, Zoe and Mila. As the result was not good, I tried to give the option to use the "roles" to try to alleviate the problem, and then I reformulated a good part of the text so that the roles were more part of the conversations.
If I do a new project after Solvalley and HS Tutor, I will avoid these things and the roles of the characters will all be defined by me, and will be clearly determined in the story.

The roles I defined was mom and sister. I wrote my comment back in November 2019; whichever version it was at the time, I felt had unnatural dialog in the context of "incest".That was just my opinion. If everything is as you say, then that is great news, perhaps I'll play it again. It's a shame patreon has turned into such a puritan website, good luck to you sir.

That's good to hear. Many developers use the relationship status to get away with incest still since Patreon can't do anything about the player having it be incest.
If you do choose to make another game it's good you intend to keep most of the relationship control to yourself. I've seen a ton of games wherein 0.2 the girl is like "No I can't have sex, it has to be special" and then due to pressuring by the audience she is rewritten to be a size queen (only cares about if a "big" dick is involved) by 0.4.
I'm enjoying the game so far; I'm probably 20% done; my biggest issue so far are small grammatical/syntax issues I just ignore cause it's not like it's an eroge; but more of a nukige. (Eroge are the types of games where at the very end the characters have sex; no sex early or mid-game, perhaps ecchi like seeing them in the shower but no sexual actions; while nukige are your games that feature sex start to end as a big story point usually, I enjoy both but I'm no0t as critical of writing if it's not the biggest focus of the game)
The 2nd issue that can be a bit annoying but is tolerable; the in-game walkthrough; I am still stuck with "What if Mila saw me and Zoe", I think I read somewhere that you just have to play a ton of Zoe's route to progress Mila's which I'm fine with. But it does make it seem like Mila is accessible right now; which I dislike since it is less clear to me in the writing up till now how to start her route.
Other characters like Zoe's best friend are written well in the fact that something happens or it can be easily assumed "If I go talk to the friend I can continue her route now/both of their routes" whereas Mila is harder to understand. I'm sure when her route starts it is easier though.
Good game so far though. I enjoy it; I had a few laughs and such so good job.
