Is.... is it possible to play a female main character? So far despite playing around with the character creator, I can only seem to actually play the default male

I just now figured out you have to click that symbol next to a custom character's name in the characters screen to play as them. I'm an idiot. D'oh!

Go to cpu-world.com, search for your CPU and look at "Extensions and Technologies" part. If your CPU doesn't support SSE4.1, version available here will not work. There is old_processor_support version on steam, it works, performance is abysmal but works.
Can you use your ship or what? This game is not worth holding down the W key in an empty world.

So what can you DO in the game and how?It will be possible later to use the ship. For now it's there to be admired.
Can you just talk to those NPC's and do scenes with them or is there other stuff?

For now you can talk to certain NPCs, have fun with almost all of them, hunt the wild ones and explore for some easter eggs.

Anyone know any optimizations for the game?
Having trouble getting a smooth frame rate on anything but the lowest setting on 800x600 resolution (windowed) with a GeForce 940MX.
Admittedly it's not the best graphics card, but I feel like there should at least be some way to run it at a decent resolution...
Edit: Don't think the bottleneck is elsewhere. I'm using an Intel i7 with 16GB ram

Optimization makes little sense if the game isn't even halfway done and things can change all the time. You either have the proper hardware to deal with the demands while playing those builds or you wait until the game is done and is much more hardware friendly.

Oh, fair enough.
I had thought that the game was a bit more completed, since it's $30 early access on Steam.
