you cant interact with the npc unless you want to get softlocked with them

If you give the purification stone to the priestess chris in the desert (2nd area) to clear the special area, the one in the forest (first area) automatically gets bugged as having been done, even if you haven't... I'm too stupid to find the events in the collection so i had to reload and old enough save where i hadn't done the 2nd area yet.

make sure to do it in chronological order

Either you are not play with japanese locale.
Either u didnt apply the patch properly, or maybe theres a problem with the translation, for the 3rd case you should prob ping the person person who did it aka dazedanon , maybe he can help.

Edit: Looking trough the thread that seems to be the same exact error and the solution to bypass that error for now is:

"Had this too, then realized that the error showed up later when I tried that scene again.
Seems like if the scene goes along for too long the error shows up? So I held CTRL and skipped through the text and that worked."

That seems to point to a issue with the script somewhere though. could have been fixed in the newer version of the game maybe.
