I doubt it's a virus but the game really loves eating system resources if you don't cap the fps to something reasonable.
it will suck your gpu dry and cap it out.

I think it's leaking handles to GPU video decode processes - it gets worse faster if you use the "s" skip key.
The only solution is to quit and restart once the performance gets too bad.
