Does anyone have tips for making singles ? All my singles are complete failures.
What I've done (please note that I am not wildly successful, merely doing slightly better than break even each month)...
1. Have a dedicated Production team. There's a significant difference in quality between coaches and production specialists, and retaining a novice specialist is a minor expense.
2. Make sure your songs have a "hook" - they should strongly appeal to a certain demographic. Men, women, teenagers, adults, hardcore, casuals... It needs to appeal to
someone if you're going to draw a crowd. Having choreography that undercuts your genre, for instance, is no good - and a song that all genres kind of like isn't as good as one that becomes a craze with one or two groups in particular. (There is a soft cap on how much a given demo will buy, but you don't have to worry about that when you're struggling to get sales at all)
3. Make sure that your idols actually match the appeal of your song. If your song is super-appealing to women, for instance, make sure your idols are cool and good singers, so that they become fans of your idols.
4. Having a fanbase matters. People don't buy from people they've never heard about, it seems. Spending time on Promotion will ensure that you have people who will give your singles a second look. After you get established, though, it's up to you whether you want to continue with promotions or rely on your concerts to spread your fame.
5. If all of that seems like a lot of work, consider just chasing the trends for a while. You'll get a lot of casual fans that way, though it makes specialization difficult.
6. Don't release songs
too often. As the game warns, it totally crashes your sales. If you don't see a warning tooltip, though, you're probably fine.
7. Consider digital releases until you get a feel for what kind of sales you can expect - or for whenever you think those sales might change. You give up a fair amount of money by doing so, but it's much safer than getting half the sales you could, or having a bunch of leftover CDs.
I hope that helps!
That's a ridiculous excuse. This would be the first beta or early access that would do that so ....

Honestly, it's
because I've seen others use that rationale before that I assume this was the reason. I haven't seen any statements from them personally, just another person mention they were going to implement that in the future.
I mean, it's a beta; it is inherently unfinished, and the only people that are expected to be playing are those that are fairly involved in the development of the game, who will presumably be reading the developers commentary with each release.
