Not sure if it's been mentioned but for me Indecent Desires put it back to VN and get rid of that awful open world game it has become infact I would do this with most of the open world games it just becomes too much of a grind.

Sorry for replying to this thread so much, but I see a point brought up and sometimes feel the need to chime in...

Grindy type games that rely on stats, gaining in-game money, repeating a sequence over and over till your blue in the face, and so forth, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't... I think the trend you typically (but not always) see is that the grind type games are probably easier to make because they don't require as much story/plot/dialogue/etc to keep the reader/player interested... By placing content behind a grind mechanic, you give a slightly false sense to the player/reader that they are taking a more active roll in driving the content forward... Working for that next piece of content... This also allows for the developer to not have to possibly pay as much attention to story details, but instead just throw small bread crumbs of content (sexual or otherwise) at the grinder, to keep the player/reader tempted just enough to keep grinding away... Some do it faster then others, while others take an eternity of grinding in hope of seeing something new, eventually...

Again, it all depends on the developers goals (innocent, accidental, and/or deliberate in nature), their experience at story telling and/or gaming making, what type of experience they are trying to portray to the player/reader, and the list goes on...

Some grind games are highly grindy but still enjoyable, while some are highly grindy and feel too highly repetitive (slash tedious) to keep playing, while some are a balanced mix but poor execution, with others that are balanced with a really decent amount of content that is well written with rich/deep stories to go along with the erotic material, and various other combos...

There is this misnomer, I see a lot, when a game is labeled "open world", which I'll explain... This is a set of power words used too much in my opinion... For games that are really not open world... 9 times out of 10, they are more like freedom of choice (partial or entirely), not really open world... Open world would be like a survival game with a seamless large open area that you can go anywhere you want, when ever you want, with very few limitations (if any at all)... Once you introduce a small map with just some predetermined locations to visit, with some, only opened up by grinding or by accomplishing certain tasks first, it no longer is an Open World... It is just a choice based world... But power words like Open World, Sandbox, Role Play Game (RPG), and so on, are used too sparingly when either not really true or only partially true... Really intended as Marketing ploys to entice folks looking for said types of VN/Games, intentionally or not... This happens in gaming across the board, and isn't necessarily just something you see incorrectly used in the Erotic Visual Novel/Game development sector... Can't tell you how many games have come out that claim Sandbox or Open World, when it just isn't true once you begin actually playing them...

On a broad and basic level, I would love if more of the linear VNs would at least add character cards for the girls. It would help me keep track so much better where there are a lot of different characters involved.

Going one step higher, there are a ton of VNs that I would like 500% more if they offered the player a map, and we could choose from at least some of the characters for where we wanted to go into the story next. Basically, choose the next chapter that way.

When its just page after page after page with no control over where to break, I often lose interest.

For me, I would probably swap out the younger sister in Milfy City, since I don't feel any attraction to her. This is probably not a popular opinion, but I can't change what turns me on. Would probably insert another older sister in her stead, maybe Alice (Big Brother) or Christine (Milf's Villa), since I like them much better.

has some really great writing. (it's a great game) But I'd probably move it to Ren'Py or RPGM.

Steel witch Annerose - the game's "good ending" (i.e the one where you don't get NTR'd to satan's anus and back) has you basically eat shit, without going into spoilers.

In comparison to that, the other routes are MUCH more rich in content, and the disparity shows.

I would have the studio give the same passion, love and care they gave the NTR/Cuck routes to the Vanilla route; If part of getting the vanilla ending requires I crack a goddamn riddle with clocks and stuff, I want some good fucking content, thank you very much.

I suppose it's an opinion of mine - it's tempting to forsake one route for another, especially if your game has a certain theme; An NTR game should be about NTR, right?

But on the other hand, if you make a GAME, it should have choices, and those choices should matter.
If I go out of my way to avoid that NTR BS like Neo in the matrix or like EA, DICE and Bungee avoid good business practice and Bethesda avoids innovation, I want an equally epic ending as a reward.

An afterword:
I knew what I was going into by playing SWA - I watched the anime up until the Tentacle scene - you know the one.
I was curious about the sauce since I liked the character design and the world intrigued me; there was actually world-building in my hentai! So go figure it's based on an epic-looking game! Only everything is rape and cuck - but apparently you can avoid that!

So I said fuck it, lets give it a chance.

Needless to say, the disparity in care for my chosen route was grave.

Well on that note I believe that those games with virgin routes are calibrated for two types of people:
1- someone that wants to play blindly and see how far they go without failing during the first playthrough, this gives you an extra element of danger because if you fail even once you stop being a virgin and then you have to cum I guess.

2- people that like to do a clean route first, with as little sex as possible (foreplay only) just to follow the story, then they start a second route following the corruption route cumming everywhere.

They were never designed for people that want vanilla sex, so those routes aren't really meant for people that "hate corruption" , the virgin route is usually there just to increase the aspects from the corruption route, since you know that what is happening is entirely your fault as the one controlling the character.
