Hello again.
As promised, the map catalogue 2.0 is ready. It contains a picture of the around 850 maps that you can find at 'Add' -> 'Map' tab. As in version 1.0, the name of the picture is exactly the map name, typos included, so you can find it quickly using the 'search' function (given the original list has no special order).
In many cases, I try to remove the ceilings so you can see the whole interior at first sight, however, have in mind that many maps are also interesting for its use as an exterior element.
Light can be quite an issue. Many maps are too dark, due to the author intention or to your own light settings. I have to illuminate most of them for the capture. For the case you run into troubles with this, my advice is (if you use Graphics Mod) to change between Skymode and Trilight in the first tab. If this fails, my trick (a dirty trick, I know) is to use a preset plenty of light. If you don't have already one, go to, e.g., a beach scene and save that preset to use it further with the dark maps. I can tell you how to deal with light in DHH, since I never used it, but surely you can get similar effects as in Graphics Mod. Anyway, the forum has good specialists in light that for sure could 'illuminate' you.
Unlike the first version, in this one the maps are ordered by categories, since from my own experience I have learnt that it is easier to find what your looking for that way. The assignation of a map to a specific category could be a matter of opinion indeed, but you always have the option to reorganize them at your will. The default categories I use is the following:
-
Ancient Far East: Classical maps of (I think) China and Japan mainly, with pagodas, temples, castles, etc...
-
City: Cities and villages, streets, squares, urban parks, buildings and infraestructures and so on
-
History-Fantasy: Historic and fantastic environments, castles, temples, forests and also cities. Egyptians, Romans, Medieval as well as Elven, Orcs and even Halloween
-
Houses-Rooms: Places where people lives (or try to do it)
-
Leisure: Places where you can go in your spare time: Bars, Restaurants, Clubs, Beaches, Museums, Cinemas, Hotel, Gyms... Also vacational places
-
Miscellanea: Everything I can't assign to other category
-
Nature: Landscapes and places with almost no human presence
-
Sci-Fi: Space things of the future, also cities, labs and other facilities
-
Transport: Planes, ships, trains. Also tunnels, by the way
-
Work: A wide collection of places. Offices, Shops, Factories, etc... but also Hospitals, Schools, Jails. Generally speaking, places where people work but don't use to live
There are several maps which I think are empty or, at least, I am unable to see anything there. These are:
*Eclipse
*Airplane_Mono
*[Alaja] Camping
*[GMCC] Workshop
*[GMCC] Military_base_light and _dark
Some others are not included because, though they seems to work well (and probably do), when I tried to take a screenshot (F11) of them my computer goes crazy using 100% of its capacity and, after a while, I had to reset the whole machine to get out of there. These are:
*(Mas75)Magic Room
*(Mas75)Medieval Fantasy Bedroom
*(Mas75)Sweet Tent
*(Mas75) Northern Castle Bedroom
I don't know if the problem is in my computer or in the map itself, so it will be great if somebody could check them to get to know it.
And I think that's all. As the first time, I will upload this in parts, since there are a file size limit for that. Hope it could be useful.
