I just don't think a character with her intelligence would put herself and her son at risk by becoming the King's concubine. There's a difference between fucking around and actually going all the way, putting a target on your back. Especially if she gave birth to another boy. She should reasonably be well aware of what happens by getting too involved. As well as not being too reckless without knowing if her husband is dead or not.

I feel it's somwhat common. Some games care more about trying to tell an actual story than others. The more story focused games tend to have these type of discussions.
