What I mean is, I don't get why she set up the shellgame with Regis.Alaina's trying to pull the elves out of decline by putting a (half) elf into power. You're the end result of decades of political speed chess that either required or created a massive amount of collateral damage. I regard the decision not to kill her at the end of chapter 1 to be the hardest in the game, because she absolutely deserves it and I really want to. But, she's an incredibly powerful ally and a ride-or-die when it comes to my plans for reunification.
Like, the older brother would have already been down to have a half elf heir, right? With Regis dead and Cassandra a girlchild, then even if he was in jail the older brother should have ended up on the throne. Conrad is 3rd born and would probably have been too young back them, so the older brother is basically the only choice. And Elder Brother was (probably) already plowing Celestyne so a half-elven king was already on the horizon.
Basicaly, Alaina seems to have caused problems for no reason imo.
