I don't understand what is happening at all in the end and I'm all for it. Can't wait for more content. Hope there's a way forward where we manage to keep everyone important alive and happy. Fuck predestined bad ends.
Only issue is some untranslated bits here and there but even then not a big deal imo.
Lazy_Monkey has always been one of the best devs on this site when it comes to writing characters. Now it looks like he has a hang of writing a good story as well. Imperial Chronicles has been consistently fun every single update for over 2 years now. And the update cycle itself has also been consistent, neither too long nor too short.
Whew! Finally all done!
So after having gone through all that?
Well,
- There's several sections in game which were left untranslated
- Couple of parts where text is cut-off at the bottom of the screen and not readable
- Tons of game interruption bugs especially in the middle chapters saying "X mp3 file is missing."
You've got a lot of work to do with all them fixes.
Get to Work!
As for the reactions for the update itself, Lazy Monkey I liked it a lot.
Cass still remains my favorite LI character out of them all, and loving the whole partners-in-crime relation her and MC have going on, even though other paths remain interesting too.
Some things to note though:
1)With the whole siding between Alaina vs Conrad situation, siding with Alaina helps a ton in getting favor with the elves. But what about when siding Conrad? Will there be any benefits with that decision? Exclusive events and payoffs for siding with him
2)The flashback with the Red Emperor and that era's Council was really good. We finally got to put a face to the Red Emperor who always appeared out of screen as voice.
Here's hoping we get to find out who actually killed the Red Emperor though. That still seems to be a mystery.
3)With the Cass route, while I really liked it a lot, I think with her killing Alaina (choosing to tell Cass everything about the family's past), it would have been much better had you actually rendered that scene of Cass doing the act rather than just the text.
The reason why I'm saying that is because Alaina was a major character, and not just a random nobody.
So a major character, the scene of her end shown I'd say would have been more beneficial.
Have her meet MC at the meeting site with bloodied hands, and when she starts to explain, scene transitions to their meet with dialogues etc.
