Elin has the biggest potential, but for the moment she hasn't acted on it. She acts around MC like she has a handbrake pulled all the time.
Cass on the other hand has a sole purpose in life, and that's to destroy the handbrake. My only complain for the Cass route is that MC is too much of a pussy in that route, despite the fact that he did the most ballsy act to get there.

I believe this is due to the MC's inexperience when it comes to the political intrigues of the court.
In Cass's path, she has a relationship of master and apprentice with the protagonist (at least that's how I see it), teaching him how the conflict for power works and how the fights between kingdoms have much deeper consequences.
The MC will mature over time, replacing this character development with a training montage à la Rocky 4 would be a very poor decision.
