No we didn't see her teach elvish, but she is an elf, is a native speaker so it's one of the best characters around the mc to teach him elvish. The fact that she and the mc's mom keep the mc ignorant is intentional. The only way the mc knows the elvish language is by being self taught (scholar path). And every instance with the teacher or the mom talking evlish, they're scheming behind the mc's back. What about her? Did you see her actually trying to teach him elvish? All we know is that she taught him a few magic tricks and we saw her lead him through a memory. She spoke a few words of elvish in his presence, but never said what they meant.
The question should not be, why didn't he learn elvish, but why didn't she teach him. Perhaps she tried, but gave up when he showed no interest; perhaps (for some reason or other) she never tried at all. We don't know and probably will never know.
We do know that at the time we join the story, he didn't show much interest in anything other than sex and booze. He felt cast aside, and wasn't in a learning mood... about elvish or anything else they might be trying to teach him.
Sure the letter in the chest was just a report to let the mother know how the mc fares in his exile. But their behavior is too suspicious in my opinion and I don't think they want the mc to rule (or think) independently. The aunt is pretty much the same, she only seeks a puppet ruler, nothing more.
Yes, you can meet a vampire, though you don't know it's a vampire unless you're on a certain path. If you want to know which path see spoilervampire chick?
