Not an anime but I recommend Regressor's Tale of Cultivation and Reverend Insanity.

Woah there you dont start with Reverend Insanity for someone who has no idea what a xianxia novel is lol. So little will make sense and half the jokes will miss. Coiling dragon or one of the Er gen novels are much better entry points into xianxia

I've been reading The Eternal Supreme lately, and the author came up with some line about how a frog in the well can't see the size of the world or something silly like that pretty far into the novel. Then they started pretty much spamming it every few chapters, and then never seemed to use it again.
I really admire that level of unmitigated chaos.
Honestly what really stands out to me about wuxia is every wuxia manhua I read feels like it was written by a 12 year old but I still fucking love them.

the person they're replying to doesn't want to engage with the rpg elements. honestly i could do without them too, jrpg combat is utterly unengaging for me, and in every avn i've ever played, i'd rather just read the damn thing. but it's tolerable so i'm not looking for a skip
