Wasn't just the escalation for me but the dialogue. I can't speak much to the ruthless path. But I can't recall a time thus far where the Duke promotion has really gone to his head. To result in the way that scene played out. It also reads a lot closer to ruthless than compassion, even with him not pushing the sex thing. Whole inner monologue beforehand read like romance, romance, romance moment, until the scene came in and said nope!Yep this felt off to me as well. It seemed like the MC saw her complete lack of self-esteem and wanted to show her that he actually did think she was attractive. But yeah, it escalated real fast.
Could be he's just getting a lot more confident and straightforward sexually because of all the time he spends with his "slaves" and his sudden promotion to Duke. At least he took no for an answer when she objected to sex.
I mean I ain't made it to the end yet, so maybe it happens again. So if other scenes with other girls play out like that, then fair enough. I mean it is what it is. But just currently seems random.
