But obviously the dev wants sex to be tied to character development, which is commendable, I guess I just wish it was a little more... clear? I don't even know. It's just my opinion anyway, and tbh its probably a skill issue since other players said they were pretty comfortably in range for affection points
I'm lacking in skills, too, then. I was kind neutral and was around 10 points when I got the first "need 50 points" locks. Then I noticed that some choices change a point and some change several points. And some choices with one girl change stats on another in opposite directions. I find it pretty tricky, and since it was so close to the end of the update I didn't bother trying to fix the points.

The biggest thing that bugs me about the point system is that it is kind of all or nothing. There was a lot of discussion earlier about the revenge seen being totally out of character to play as good and then so dark for the princess. IMO it is perfectly in reasonable to be nice to the people that did nothing to hurt you but still be ruthless to those that wronged you.

I thought it was pretty cruel that to play the sub route with the girl you pick up when the other guy dies (sorry, I don't remember her name) that you tell her that it's her fault her old master is dead. I'm not saying that you have to have a loving path for a sub/dom relationship, but too many choices here seem to be dom = asshole and not enough being about control. Especially with girls 5hat are already submissive.

It's still a fun game so far, but it may end up not being for me if all choices are so extreme. I haven't played Always Fans, and it doesn't look that interesting to me, so I don't have much experience with this dev.

I do really like that if you were neutral for that rape scene, there is unique dialogue where the MC says "I like to be nice to friends, and cruel to my enemies. Unfortunately for you, you've picked your side already."

I wonder if there will be "Neutral" choices in the future that would be locked if you're too far one way or the other?

Time flies…
Exactly one year ago today, the final version of AlwaysFan was released! To celebrate this special anniversary, I’ve prepared not one, but two gifts for you.
The first is a commemorative wallpaper (available in 4K at the bottom of this post), featuring all ten romanceable characters from the game — all dressed to impress for the occasion. I hope it brings back some fond memories!

The second is a small game update (v1.0.1) I mentioned at the beginning of last month. Just a heads-up: as I’ve said before, this update doesn't add new story content. It’s more of a “quality of life” patch that includes:
  • Some tweaks to the UI for better usability
  • Improved accessibility for visually impaired players (Huge thanks to Amro for pointing out the screen reader issues!)
  • A few minor bug fixes, code optimization, and improved English text
  • The long-promised French translation
Important note: These changes may break some fan-made translations. If you’re playing the game in another language, I recommend sticking with version 1.0 for now until your translation gets updated.

I've also compiled an APK version for Android. However, as mentioned in my previous post, it’s not plug & play, since the game still exceeds the 2GB size limit for APKs. You'll need to follow a few extra steps to install it — there's a full step-by-step visual guide available [ ]. If you’d rather keep playing via JoyPlay, that’s still an option using the compressed PC version.

This update is mainly aimed at new players, but I think it’ll also be useful for anyone planning a fresh playthrough or who likes revisiting the gallery from time to time. Unless a major bug is found (if so, please let me know on the Discord server), this will be the last update for AlwaysFan.

Enjoy, and thanks again for your continued support!

Patch Note:
Game content:

- Added full French translation of the game
- Numerous text corrections
- Abby will no longer appear during the beach photoshoot on Day 48 if she had to leave the villa- Fixed several visual glitches.
- Fixed a sound saturation issue in one of Iris's H-scenes
- Fixed a bug affecting saves started before version 0.3 that caused incorrect info to appear on Natacha's relationship screen
- Corrected the unlock conditions for the "Foursome" achievement, it now unlocks as intended
- The achievement ‘I did it’ is no longer mistakenly considered an achievement of the sharing route.
- The achievement ‘founder’ (playing a version earlier than 1.0) will no longer be displayed if you have not unlocked it.
- Removed the Spanish translation, as it hasn't been updated since Episode 5 and has become outdated due to recent changes.

User Interface:
- Added a slider to adjust the dialogue box opacity
- Added a slider to adjust text outline thickness
- Added a new anniversary-themed background for the main menu and a random theme option.
- Complete visual overhaul of the gallery screen
- Complete visual overhaul of the achievement screen
- Characters are now displayed in a more logical order in the relationship screen (based on when they were met)

Accessibility & Self-Voicing Improvements:
- Relationship screen buttons now support self-voicing and are selected in the same order they appear when navigating with arrow keys
- Achievement names are no longer read in a loop on the achievements screen — they now need to be selected to be read aloud.
- Web addresses and time are no longer read aloud when browsing AlwaysFan
- The time is no longer read aloud on every new line of text during the clue search in Marcus's office
- All elements of the clue search in Marcus's office (documents, buttons, clues, etc.) now support self-voicing, and buttons have been rearranged in a more logical order for arrow key navigation.

Known Issues:
- Older save files may experience slight rollbacks, restarting the current dialogue or scene.
- Rolling back immediately after loading an old save may cause display errors in the relationships screen. Save and reload fix the problem.

The game is a Visual Novel with a strong RPG feel. A turn-based combat system will be used to resolve certain conflicts, and your characters will gain levels, allowing them to allocate stat points and learn new skills. You'll also find puzzles to solve later in the game.
No, this is not a Visual Novel. VNs are simple stories with no bullshit added. Choices, yes, but not work. VNs do not have turn based combat, maps to explore, pointing and clicking, puzzles, countless unnamed objects to find, main quests, side quests, currencies, potions, crafting, recipes, ingredients, management, and bottomless sacks for endless inventory.

Please remove the VN tag. Those of us searching for VNs are looking for straightforward, laborless, gimickless narratives devoid of all this stuff.

It's also not a sandbox. It's what would be considered in Japan an adventure game. We don't have an adventure game tag though and most western visual novel fans consider adventure games to be visual novels.
As for your last point speak for yourself. If the management, puzzle and turn based combat tags didn't clue you into the point that this was more than a bare bones visual novel then I suspect your reading level is a bit to low to care about literary purity standards.

Wrong, there are plently of VNs in Japan with added combat/management elements.

This site seems to be more or less for everybody outside of Japan, but my understanding is Japanese fans are at least as strict as me about what constitutes a VN.

Visual Novel (ビジュアルノベル / VN)

  • Text-focused: The story is mostly told through text boxes, with character portraits, static backgrounds, and occasional CG scenes.
  • Minimal interaction: You mostly click to advance text, occasionally make choices.
  • Branching paths: Common; player choices lead to different routes/endings.
  • Examples: Clannad, Steins;Gate, Fate/stay night, Tsukihime, Chaos;Head

VN = digital novel with art + sound + maybe choices.

Adventure Game (アドベンチャーゲーム / ADV)

  • More interactivity: Still story-heavy, but may include:
    • Menus to investigate/explore scenes
    • Point-and-click elements
    • Puzzle solving
    • Item collection
  • Less text density: Dialogue is broken up by interaction or game-like segments.
  • Examples: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk, 428: Shibuya Scramble, Danganronpa

ADV = story plus gameplay mechanics.

The Japanese do not call anything like Ianna Revenge a Visual Novel.

Most of us are not Japanese and I still consider Inanna Revenge a Visual Novel. In fact I avoid almost everything on this site that is clearly and heavily sandbox with a very few exceptions like DS. And annoys me that many games don't have the VN tag when they barely have sandbox/point and click/turn based combat and alike elements very disruptive of the story because I usually exclude them and after all they are still for me a Visual Novel/Adventure game with little to almost non sandbox or alike elements, they still work as a VN in my mind.

So in the end there isn't a perfect measure to "label" this games unless they start giving more and different labels before the title of a game, like I dunno, Adventure Novel (AN), Sandbox dating sim (SDS) and is that last one that I completely avoid, they are annoying to play for me haha. Would get very confusing so I don't think it is a good measure either.

There should be a feature to Turn off the Mini-Games for those who do not like to play those. Many players just wants the straight forward story and not some long ass mechanical Mini-Games. By the I love to play Mini-Games and I have no complain with the Mini-Games yet and I absolutely love them. But still the Dev should think about the only story players.

I don't believe anything on this site is a sandbox game. A "sandbox" is a place for building and destroying whatever you want whenever you want. Minecraft and The Sims are sandbox games. Somehow the term got horribly misapplied to adult games where it doesn't belong.

Regardless of the original definition, the only definition that matters is the one this site uses:

If you can roam around freely, it's sandbox. Personally, I'd like to see something more definitive. I'm fine with roaming around freely. I hate grinding stats and having to show up at specific locations on specific date/times.

This is derailing the game thread but we use here many many tags and labels loosely, it is like what is a futa for someone and another or what is sandbox or isn't.

You are right a "pure" sandbox game is like those you mention but you have many examples on how a term start being used for 1 purpose and then they get a wider and looser meaning.

Won't speak about this anymore since it is clearly off topic and probably there is a thread to discuss this, or you can open a thread to discuss it, think my point was clear even with the "inaccuracies" lol.

A tag rework is allegedly coming on this site... for a couple years now
A shame because the tags in the site are kinda lacking, also how there's no distinction between for example the different kinds of NTR.

VNDB is so much better with tags.

I closed the game after I saw who we got as a maid. He has to let that character go. Its not even a good looking model. Atleast upgrade the model if so.. sigh. We really missed out on some amazing looking characters too.... Still a good game, but man.
