Probably too early to do those sort of cliffhanger type paywalls.

A better approach is just excluding BONUS content and features but otherwise leaving most the core game content ok. Such as gallery, and other addon content. Or excluding the later chapters until finished.

One of the benefits of THIS site is to get people interested in your game and also help test it, even give ideas on how to make it better. But you've started right off the bat demanding subscriptions for some very core content of this IN-DEV game.

LONG TERM, you would make much more money doing as I suggested vs trying to gouge the few impatient people willing to pay.

Just my 2 cents.

PS. I noticed you didn't remove the images either, so yeah, maybe delete those if your going to gatekeep. The only thing adjusted seems to be the script file.

Title too ambiguous. dont know what this game is about.

EDIT: Bunk game. In the age of just about everything being free, you don't survive like this.
You guaranteed failure thinking your talent is better than most and you dont have to show people your skills before they even waste money on you.
Very sad to have a decent game be mismanaged by "give me money first" ideals.

My 2 cents is: (not talking about 1 dev just generalization)

If you do those games if you are a new developer for money you are in for a nightmare. You are not a studio and people judge you for your work not your intention. I have seen people supporting games a lot of those but there is one point in common: Passion and work

If you have built a credibility and enough support then you can be pro and expect sales/support for your time and work.

Until then that's just probono with a little extra. I had a talk with a "friend" of mine who tried to launch his game. All this operation went nowhere for multiples reasons. But i was shocked he put a patreon as first thought. That's not how you succeed.

people need to start getting smarter, by boycotting developers or anyone really that tries to "force" you into something through means like manipulation, intimidation or other nefarious or morally questionable means. this dev wants support, earn it.
Here are MANY AVNs , that have more content and are generally overall better and guess what, they are free, have no paywalls or forced subscriptions to unlock content and they have tons of supporters. Time to teach developers that stoop to these levels a lesson and simply don't play and dont PAY. You are not a special snowflake

The dev is under no obligation to provide the game to us for free. It's his game and he can do what he wants with it. That being said, the reception he gets here on F95 is another thing. Those of us who have been around a while know that developers who handle their releases this way are probably not going to see much success. That's his problem. So, ignore the game and maybe it will go away. And the developer too.

However, I think it would be a good idea to update the OP to indicate that this is NOT the full version of the game and that it's paywalled. This way people don't waste their time on it.

I get your logic, but it doesn't work that way. People won't pay if they don't have to. Nobody gives a damn about my problems, and that’s fine.
Have you ever checked any other dev's patreon (and if you'd please yourself subscribestar also)
That makes popular novels/games far bigger then this, and it runs a long time too.
If it works for the popular dev's, why not you?

- Being a Dik
- Become a Rockstar
- Intertwined
- Broken dreamers
- Leap of faith

and many more on such level.
They have paywall too, but not scene based.

Their paywall is based on update content per tier.
aside from their released content, they do additional renders for certain higher tiers.
more authority in polls and decisions whenever they have set themself a dilemma of focus.
higher tiers are allowed to help decide for them.

Many of them allow to have public releases of 1 or 2 versions older then higher tiers can play.
2 or 3 weeks, and some even longer prior to the new public releases.

Some make as much as 6 or 7k a month, just on patreon.
thats not even subscribestar included.

and there are more ways to have each tiers to be worth it if done right.
while i am not a developper of this kind of novel, it's still easy to see for subscribers what contents each tiers have to offer.
all the while, some dev's even share their monthly income based on the tiers on their pages.

Not all people subscribe just to get content,
many also choose to do so in order to reward if the quality is right.

even people from this piracy site, i myself included. quality deserves reward.

Okay, have it your way, dev. I've tossed $20 at you on SS for this month.

I like the look of your renders, and I've been waiting awhile now for content to build up/you to focus on a game long enough to make a playthrough worthwhile, but I haven't actually read through the threads to keep up with the development. I did this month after downloading the update here and losing content (from what little there was), wondering what the situation is.

You must be real hard up, to do such a fool thing/shoot yourself in the foot like this, dev. So, take the $20 and my blessing. I hope things work out for you.

That said, this is likely the only payment you're ever going to see from me. I'm cancelling the sub before next month. I'm doing this because I generally support devs who have proven that they have:

A.) A vision for an interesting story and characters (narrative)

B.) The technical ability to present the story and characters according to that vision (renders)

C.) The discipline to follow through (work ethic and focus)

You've got A and B, but lack C, which is why I haven't supported you up to this point. I need to see all 3 things before I feel comfortable trusting people with a recurring subscription that I will let run on and on for months/years.

Looking over at your SS, I see polls and questionnaires and feelers being floated about yet more games that you're thinking of making. I know what's up here, dev. You're hoping to luck out and strike gold. You're trying to find the magic sauce that lets you skip to the end, where you're an overnight success raking in the dough.

You can't engineer that. Lightning strikes, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, you get out the hand crank and build your charge up the old fashioned way. Focus, commit, do the work.

Your paywall is a bad idea, and I really think you'd do well to reconsider it (among other things).

Anyway, best of luck to you, hope things improve. I'll have to take it on faith that they will, because I'm removing your games from my watchlist.

I kinda lost respect to this game
I have two versions of it 0.49 and this one 0.61, the 0.49 version has the scene between the player and his aunt, the 0.61 version claims that " this scene will never be released publicly.. only for subscribers" ...it's already out there dum dum
but u just made us all mad, as this game is now useless.. we can't endorse it publicly if it doesn't have a value.

not everyone can do that, and by pushing people you would barely make a couple of 100$ if you made any, yea we care about u but if u understand the marketing really, 90+% don't have the money or willing to pay u for your service but they are making your product popular so the 10% could purchase it.

by doing this subscirption thing u have lost your popularity, and gained 20-100$, which is nothing.. If u are wise enough u would reverse gear ASAP.
