50$ montly for private server for better AI ( the standart probably ), yeah sounds like a robbery. Looks like even this project start paywall tactics. It's not 1 time thing u need to pay constantly like u're paying to a service. Even serviceses like these have more than one project like xbox game pass, playstation game pass, amazon prime, netflix etc. If we should rate this on 50$ per month on 100, i will probably go to minus numbers. b... but he needs to earn money guys I bet some modders pop out and make a better community AI than Crow, I hope he won't ban those AI s.

Another delay

No, nothing about this is paywall whatsoever. Patreon AI server is nothing other than an alternative for those that may have issues setting it up locally, that's all. If you read into what was said there you'll see that Crow mentioned all patreon subscribers and you have tiers ranging from 2$ all the way up to 50$ therefore I really don't see how you even got to the conclusion that he's planning to make it for the 50$ tiers. By "higher-tier patrons" he probably meant for those in the range of the 5-10$ depending on nothing other than the performance results meaning that it may not even get limited at all in the end.

If anything, it's great that Crow even considered this alternative considering that he initially never planned for it and wanted people to either local host it or use any of the free online versions which in testing turned out to be way too slow.

Crow moved release date to 15.11 for patrons, and a week later for everyone else. And now there's a new incentive to be a patron - you'll be able to use his private AI server, since local AI didn't perform well. You'll still be able to use it though.

I just want to add a bit of clarification here. Local AI does perform well, the issue arises from the free online versions that are listed in the game's options as well as people with lower end PCs that may have trouble setting it up.

I do have to say that when it comes to AI & LLM I'm an absolute knobhead as I never really did anything with AI before testing this so its possible that I just didn't investigate enough alleyways to get it running onto AMD while Crow's guidelines probably directed me towards more RTX friendly solutions as he's on RTX himself.

Do note that I did eventually manage to set it up on my AMD machine and it was slow as hell (once again, performance was not an issue with those on RTX cards).

Hopefully someone with more knowledge in running AI with AMD might eventually come up with a decent solution once the update releases and make a tutorial or something.

Im also running amd graphics and with some tinkering I managed to get my local AI running for text gen pretty well.
I havent played the coming update but I assume you should be able to use KoboldCPP in API mode and hook it into the game. With the right model and parameter settings you should be able to get a decent response time on the specs mentioned.

You're not wrong. I shouldn't act entitled. I just mentioned a couple of pages ago that I hoped the AI stuff wouldn't bog down development, so I guess I thought people really needed to hear my "called it!". (They didn't, I'm just a self-absorbed twat sometimes.)

Don't get me wrong, I understand that AI isn't near perfect yet and is resource intensive to use, but I also can't fault him for trying to use it. People want a dynamic experience with meaningful dialogue choices and unique characters, and the town has like what, a minimum of 80 randomly generated NPCs? The fastest and more most practical way is unfortunately AI.

I wonder, would it be easier to just make a game editor for AI, rather than making an AI that has to keep up with ridiculous amount of information and be interactive in real time? In game editor it would only have to consider its own game context during the process of creation, that would be cemented into editor after adding it - allowing for an easy order to change and improve things in places. It adds text and interactions, it refers to its own creation as the context, and makes more on top of it. Sounds like less AI use than a chatbot.

Or maybe i'm just simplifying it, because i really wish it was true already... I guess it would have to be learning from something, and have to analyze how other people use this editor, i.e. reading every single mod.

Not really, no. I tried teaching, but I don't understand the mechanics in the slightest.

Teaching is the most developed job currently, but even it is not super far along. Right now they're mostly placeholders. It SOUNDS like GC has plans on putting some stuff in like office drama, fucking the boss at work, etc., but it's not implemented yet.

And like the guy above me said, the teaching job is... confusing. With the broken english and stuff it's kinda hard to tell what you're supposed to be doing. I've had weeks where I did literally nothing, like I forgot to go to work completely until the last day, and my students failed their tests but discipline was like, ungodly good? And I got a huge bonus for having such a well-disciplined class. I've had other weeks when I'm there every day, doing my best to teach them (both in a single subject that I'm highly interested in, and a broad range of subjects), and I get my ass chewed by the boss for being so horrible at my job. So I... really can't offer any advice on how to progress, lol.

That's what i was talking about, hiring people complicates everything. They're often such unreliable, lazy bastards that can't promise a thing in their life, and cooperation with good working chemistry is not easy. That's why i was also against artstyle "upgrade" with another artist, as was discussed in the past. Well, at least a programmer is way less risky than an artist quitting or rising demands.

Hiring a Programmer also such a pain in the ass. They mess up your codes and flowchart after a while your codes turn into spagetti and tie your hands to add new things. I mean look at TF2 ( Team Fortress 2 ) They can't add new things or remove, they just stuck in their place. Artstyle upgrade kind more safe i think but end of the day working with a freelancer always a trouble they are lazy as fuck especially the artists. They never do what u asked for and they're always late ( generally i mean, if u're a freelancer artist and offended then do better work, work steady and change the stereotype )
