For most I would recommend giving the game time. Even though this is version 0.06d it is technically version 0.01 as this is the first update in unity. The end product will be far from what we have now, and the game a few updates from now could on a technical standpoint be vastly superior.

We can not see what will be, and only assume, and assumptions are often time wrong.
Unity is garbage and will always be garbage, author made a HUGE mistake downgrading to this jank .

Big fan of the game and its lore. I love the characters and drawing style.
I do not understand why we needed to have build mechanics in this game. It was perfectly fine as is.
Still an amazing game and I enjoy its premise.

A few things:
For some reason, I can drag dialogue choices around with LMB.
The repeatable Vera night bar scene makes the game shit itself - game goes to blackscreen after it. And I mean the 2+ one, not the first time one.
Inn camera could use a mouse controls.
Inn does not hide walls of adjacent rooms in room editor when said walls get in the way.

Checked and verified that this happens.
Once the scene finishes it hangs on black.

I played the update and here are my thoughts.
I don't hate the new building mechanic, but it needs work. Like hide-able walls and bigger buttons when clicking on something to move/delete it.
I liked the new intro, though i will miss mysterious robbed guy.
I think it'd be better if right click brought up the menu instead of just asking if you wanna overwrite your save.
I do like having a button for the shop menu and stats.
I also encountered a few bugs.
When i load a save, the gallery is all locked again like it's the beginning of the game. It fixes itself when moving rooms/location and coming back.
The game freezes(?) after Maria's futa scene, right after MC asks how it feels. The text box disappears and the only button that works is right click. I have to close the game to fix it.
When going to Vera's room and she talks to you, there's no talking sprite, she also just stays in her room for the rest of the day.
Sometimes I just get a black screen during scenes. I don't know what's causing it as sometimes the scenes will play normal, sometimes not. Replaying them from the book works fine, but going to the character and doing them is a gamble.
And speaking of black screens, sometimes the game takes a good bit to load and i'm just sitting on a black screen for a bit.
I do think if you're gonna continue with Unity, you're gonna need to do a lot more bug testing.
This update would've felt a lot better if it wasn't bogged down by all the bugs.

Unfortunately the mislabeled Linux file was a mistake I made during the build. I’ll be uploading a (hopefully) fixed version sometime today. Someone on itch.io had success renaming the Linux version to the correct letter version, so that might help in the meantime?
Ah! I got a new download from itch.io and renamed the data folder (d->c) and the game just launched. I printed the same message about boot.config, but at least it runs. Excited to play this.

I hope you're not feeling too down about all the performance comments. This is the first public build of this game, so it's bound to have some issues, keep at it, and make sure you enjoy it:)

It is what it is. You can help make the game better are keep harping that things have changed helping no one. We under stand you do not like the change, but remember having an opinion is fine harassing the dev to change there game to your liking is against site rules.

some quality Unity programming eh fellas?
You ever tried programing? Even on an established program once major changes are made bugs and issues pop up. The entire game was just ported to unity. Even big name companies on release often have large issues after a port, or release period cyberpunk 2077 ring any bells, and this is still the first bata release.

I like renpy more then unity myself, but the dev made there decision now I just hope things work out, and if they do not the dev is more likely to go back if there idea those not pan out then if they are talked out of trying as they will always feel it could have worked.

Don’t be petty.
Even with a few issues, it’s clear the dev put a lot of work into this to make it work as close to the original, and it’s a lot less buggy than most first public builds of this type.
Unity has its issues and reputation, but at the end it’s a tool. Results depend on how it’s used, and we have a case here where the dev seems to actually care about the product being put out.

Give it a bit, let the problems get ironed out, and see where things go.

Guess I'll be waiting till its optimized. nearly crashed my windows and the memory and gpu usage is atrocious.
FPS were not capped there are some earlier post about how to do it yourselves, but you may want to wait until the next update as the dev is already aware of the issue.

Can't play it (laptop must turn into an oven, its just a black screen), but I support you, Dagotto! New formats are always tough!

I read the reasons for the engine change. and something that escapes my understanding. Why start creating the game in Renpy in the first place? if you say you were a Unity expert? why? does anyone understand it?

There can be quite a few reasons to do this.
One I can imagine is:
Getting a proof that the theme itself is working and liked enough to fully invest into it.
RenPy makes a lot very easy if you want to create a VN. So creating a VN style game can be a lot easier in RenPy than in Unity even if you know Unity a lot.
I think once it was clear that it was working out and the creator came to the part that RenPy is not good (creating an own inn building system in this case) the creator decided to get to Unity since from this point it is easier.

Of course that is only what I imagine as a could be as I said there are many reasons to do something like this.

While I like the chance to decorate rooms instead of just having them by default... it's just for random generic guests we can't interact with. I hope the same can be done to the long term guests. At least buying stuff for them they require to get additional relationship points/quest progress would be nice.

Ofc this was just the first step from Renpy to Unity so hopes are there this is a planned thing for later.

The temp guests will have interactions later. They have full sized images and everything.
