I didn't call you a dev in disguise, but 9 out of your 10 posts so far were in this thread, so assuming you're a fan seemed fair.

As for the rest of your post, I doubt anyone in here is overly bitter or emotional.
It's one of those games where development has gone on for so long and updates generally offer so little new content that bitching about it has become far more entertaining than replaying the damn thing.

If you're still enjoying Innocent Witches then good for you. Just don't expect us all to get excited over a new scene or two in a project that's been around for almost 8 years with no end in sight.

And the second part could work as an explanation to the behavior I've seen from others, I'm just amazed at the amount of bile that's being thrown around and not just for the latest release. Bitching about it is not a problem to be honest, I can complain with the best of them, but it has devolved into a situation where it seems like people are competing for no.1 price in being nasty. I'm sorry for bundling you with them.

And as for the third part which again is a good point, it is not my business if someone is excited over something or not. If I made it my business and tried to force others to be excited I'd be a hypocrite, and not just because of my first post.

And thanks for replying to me in the manner you have, I myself am biased about people on this forum and more than half-expected you to attack me like a rabid dog. So you positively surprised me and made me more self-aware of my own bias, I shall have to work on that.

But for me, this game is in legendary tier.
I'm not angry at this game, it's just funny to see how the dev will fuck their supporters over and over. Also, I think it's a good thing that we let messages for new people to don't get tricked by this game.

Now see this is a better direction for the conversation and something I want to hear more about, and talk about. I like to be informed about these things, and I will admit that I am considering buying into this game. But as such I also want to make a rational choice based on actual information, and not based on people personally feeling slighted on a forum.

DownTheDrain wasn't wrong that I'm a fan, but that also means I have standards regarding what I consume from it, and I've read a lot of posts both on here and on Wands and Witches. And few posts are constructive in any way, or truly informs about anything else than personal feelings and opinions.

If you've had a shitty experience and want to help others avoid a similar experience, you need equal amount of facts/information to the amount of emotional response. So I've cobbled together that people are displeased at the total development time with this game, "lackluster" updates(seems purely opinionated based on personal best preference) and the feeling of it not reaching an end any time soon. I know that a lot of people dislike that they restarted the plot (old vs new plot), and yet half of those people also seems to agree that the old plot was BAD, bad.

As for being a Patreon, that is supporting the devs and being allowed to share opinions. You pay for a subscription you can cancel, and as long as the game isn't abandoned you can even receive the game for free, according to the devs. Now if the game doesn't end up free in the end I can understand the anger at both devs and the annoyance that people have been willing to pay them during the development(because then the argument that the Patreons are being fooled would be true), but until such a thing actually happens isn't that opinion simply your own?

So I actually want to, if this truly is such a villian of a dev as people say, be convinced. So can you or someone else tell me a bit more about what's going on before I decide what to do with my money?

I mean, it's just product of disappointment that yet another promising game ends up in milking mode rather than ever getting finished because actually finishing the game would mean end to milking and needing to actually create something new that may or may not be as popular as the current game.

The game is 8 years old...... okay your point? There are old games that have been around for 15-20 years and are still developed to this day. I seriously doubt I could spend enough money on Patreon(which I probably wont anyway, as I'm considering buying all current and future BETA and ALPHA versions with a one-time payment on Itch, which renders any money-over-time arguments more or less moot.) that can come close to the sum of money I've spent on MMORPG subscriptions since I was 15, or heck even lootcrates. And those are a generally a shitty investment of money vs enjoyment if you ask me.

So there is 1 sex scene with a main girl? I find that a good thing. Would I like more, and specifically for whomever I find as best waifu? Sure, most definitely even but that doesn't make Sad Crab a shitty dev, that only tells me you're salty over whatever it is you want doesn't exist in the game.

I'm a programmer, so I know shitty codebases can be a headache, but there is a limit to how far that excuse can stretch, too. Yet it is the usual excuse given when there's suddenly half year to a year completele pause in development with these milking schemes. And yet even after that excuse is spent, the development rarely if ever gets any faster.

I have nothing against projects that take long. I've played Dwarf Fortress on and off and its development has taken more than half my life. I DO have a problem with projects that milk money with very little to show for it year in, year out.

I work as a test engineer and had similar experiences and thus know what you mean, and that's one reason to why I'm considering the one time payment on Itch instead of the Patreon subscription. I played the public version some time back and now played the version on here, and wanted to be able to come back to it over time as it progresses no matter how slowly, until it's finished or until it's abandoned which is a risk in the business.
