Hello, witches and wizards!

Another eventful month of Innocent Witches development has passed, and it’s time to sum things up. We’ve made tons of improvements, implemented important fixes from the backlog, and laid the groundwork for the next major content patch — 0.12B. In this post, we’ll share which tasks have been completed, what’s currently in active development, and what we’re planning for the near future.

Over the past ten days, the team has continued working on tasks pulled from the backlog. As a reminder, this list contains various suggestions and improvements that arise during core development but require a shift in focus. To avoid derailing from the main course, we collect these tasks in a dedicated backlog.

Ideas that go there come from both team members and players. Typically, after major releases, we return to this list and select the most relevant and quick-to-implement tasks. The items chosen after the release of version 0.12A have now been successfully added to the game.

Here are some of them:

We’ve updated the event responsible for increasing the "Control" stat. Instead of closing the curtain, players must now make a choice from random options within a time limit. This change was made because, in the current version, Marcus sometimes refused to perform certain actions without the curtain closed, while doing other things freely, ignoring the curtain entirely. The new approach resolves this inconsistency and makes the mechanic more logical and flexible.

Marcus’s owl, Googlyeyes, is now consistently named throughout the game. This is especially important for the English version, where different names were previously used due to a lack of standardization.

When entering the Azkaban location, one of two music tracks is now chosen at random, adding a nice touch of immersion depending on what’s happening there.

The mimic chest in the revamped Ravenclaw dorms now has a short dialogue when interacted with.

In the final stage of the Mysterious Fan event, we replaced the static stat check with a spell-casting mechanic: players must trace the shape of a spell by swiping the cursor or finger across the screen. This change turns static stat check into a more interactive and engaging gameplay element. If the stat is high enough, the spell tracing becomes easier as well and there’s more time to do that.

Marcus can now freely visit the library once he’s gained the ability to leave his office. Update 0.12B will add new interactive elements to the library as well. Who knows what you might find hidden in those bookshelves? ;)

A bug was fixed where items stored in the office wardrobe weren’t removed properly from the inventory during certain events. Now, items are correctly removed even if they were placed in the wardrobe.

Ginny’s Snitch quest now includes additional triggers to automatically schedule the right meeting with her if it was missed for any reason. This should help avoid situations where Ginny never shows up, blocking the quest progression.

We’ve worked on reducing black screen transitions and trimmed pauses between events. Most of the efforts went into polishing Chapter 1 of Act I, but we also improved Chapters 2 and 3. These updates made the chapters feel smoother: characters appear faster and more dynamically, and scene transitions are now quicker and more seamless, making the overall experience much more enjoyable. Additionally, multiple pesky bugs, typos, grammatical errors and other inconsistencies related to these chapters were fixed!

Finally, we fixed critical bugs and typos across the game that were reported by you, our dear players! Thank you <3

All of the above will be included in the 0.12B release, which now becomes our main focus. As mentioned earlier, a large part of the artwork for this patch is already completed, and our artists are wrapping up the remaining tasks.

Let’s take another look at some of the things planned for 0.12B:

The continuation of scenes with the prefects, which began at the end of Chapter 3 in Act II in the recently released 0.12A. Each prefect’s scene will be expanded, bringing new interactions with them.

The continuation of the Abandoned Toilet event, which will include juicy additions to the scene itself and a deepening relationship with its mysterious organizer. Part of these additions will be the reintegration of a scene from the old storyline that’s been visually updated and expanded.

A side event that will finally allow Marcus to leave his office at night and visit certain locations in the castle. During this event, he’ll encounter familiar characters from the HP universe, and one rule-breaker in particular will appear before him in a very revealing form ;)

The introduction of a mini-game with Hermione, along with an update to its mechanics. We’re talking about a "sliding puzzle" mini-game, which will receive an additional game mode. And of course, Hermione will have to fulfill her end of the bargain… and it’s definitely going to be a show! ;)

New Polaroid photos — the game will get a fresh batch of polaroids, most of which will be animated in Live2D. They’ll feature both prefects and secondary characters. Moreover, some of these photos (including existing ones) can be modified to remove certain layers of unneeded clothing from the characters >:D This process will be tied to Hermione’s mini-game, making the experience more fun and the reward even sweeter.

A bonus for fans of the elf maid — a short event focused on our devoted assistant will be added to the game. In her eagerness to please Marcus, she might go a bit overboard, leaving him to deal with the consequences. But if he manages to keep control, an even sweeter reward awaits.

That’s all for today, folks! We truly appreciate you staying with us and supporting the development through your donations and feedback. Thank you so much!

We’ll meet again very soon in the next news update. Until then, take care and don’t forget to enjoy life!

Peace to everyone✌

What do you think about replacing traditional stat checks with interactive minigames?

One of the recent changes in the Mysterious Fan event is a replacement of the stat check with a spell-tracing mechanic — the player must draw the correct shape on the screen with their mouse cursor or finger. In addition, a higher stat makes the challenge easier by slowing the timer or simplifying the shape. It’s a more engaging and immersive process than passive stat check.
We’re considering using similar mechanics in other events with stat checks where quick reactions, involvement, or tense choices are needed. But we also want to maintain balance and preserve the feeling regarding the game’s existing mechanics.
So what’s your take on replacing stat checks with more interactive mechanics?
  • I love it! Interactive mechanics make the game more alive and exciting.

  • Depends on how well it’s done — if it looks and feels good, I’m in.

  • I prefer the classic stat check system. I’m not a fan of minigames for each check.

  • I want to see the poll results.

Silly question, does this game get consistent updates?
They did win the milking award 3 times in a row. They are good at creating expectations and well enough at keeping hopeful contributing.
It is an amusing game, with a decent amount of content. But doubt it will progress with anything substantial. But they are not alone in milking a half finished product. Just enjoy what there is now.

I played the game last year, I was just wondering if they actually add anything of substance at a consistent rate. Also, where have the mini games gone? Susan’s, Daphnes and Lunas, where have they all gone? Are they buried at the end of the latest build?

No, this game actually removes content :KEK: .

They said they would be implemented back eventually, but who knows anymore...

Fast forward 5 years game is in version 19.5 alpha you are given in detail descriptions of the thoughts and multiple angles of each witch when they meet Marcus. Marcus has naughty thoughts of each witch in bikini shown in chibi format. Game ends.

Silly question, does this game get consistent updates?
The project is live and regularly updated but consider this : this thread was started nine years ago, and we're at version 0.12. In itself, this speaks volumes.

The story doesn't get much progress (at one time, i think it was three or four years ago, they even scratched most of it) and they keep adding minigames, and secondary characters nobody cares much about, to provide "content".

Keep your money, take the free versions and you'll not miss much anyway. At the current pace of progress, the game should reach version 1.0 sometimes around 2090, so, we'll never ever see the conclusion of the story. Grab what you can and keep your wallet.

The project and many gameplay elements were full of promises but for years, it's just turned into a regularly updated scam that manages to get 20.000 bucks per month.

I'm reminded of the Sweet Baby Initiative on Steam, and some users starting cataloging all the games they are getting involved in, ruining them with DEI. So that players that don't want woke staff in their escapism can stay away from them.

Maybe it's time we start a thread listing all the developers and games that fall under the category of the ''Perpetual Milking tactic'' Some that come instantly to mind are Dr.Bones, Sad Crab, Jackerman ets.

This could prevent the new players/potential new customers that dont know the whole story and are new to the ''hobby " to watch out for these practices.

These developers bet on the new crop of ignorant players to pay them as the older crop gets out as they realize the scum they signed on.
Don't forget Kompas Productions, the developer of Summertime Saga.

Man, so much of this game has changed, I haven't touched it in years. Am I tripping or is there less content now?
